Mr.basshead Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 Your ports are way, way too small. Go for ~3.5 cubes after displacement with 60^2" of port 18 inches long or 1 6" aero if you wanna smash the lows. 2 4" aeros on a 3515 is sacrilege, may as well put it in a prefab. Isn't one 6 inch aero pretty much the same amount of port area as 2 4's? 1 TC Sounds TC-3000 15 D2 (temporary until I get a box built for the both of them) Powerbass ASA 1500.1 Dx Pioneer Mvh-P8200 Soundstream MPQ-7XO 7 band Eq Crescendo CCX6.5's Rockford Fosgate Punch 200a4 C&D UPS490-MR in the back 2008 Kia Rio Lx
Boon Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Yes. But a 6" aero has a flare about the size of a 10" sub, and much less port wall per square inch. So it flows a LOT better. Circumference of 2x4" port = 25 inches Circumference of 6" port = 18 inches = much less friction. Port area isn't the whole equation. Laminar Flow is important - as you can see by the image here: Airflow is slowest along the surface and fastest in the middle. 10.x volts fo' life!
Mr.basshead Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 So now my question is should I go with 3 4" aeros or 1 6"? 1 TC Sounds TC-3000 15 D2 (temporary until I get a box built for the both of them) Powerbass ASA 1500.1 Dx Pioneer Mvh-P8200 Soundstream MPQ-7XO 7 band Eq Crescendo CCX6.5's Rockford Fosgate Punch 200a4 C&D UPS490-MR in the back 2008 Kia Rio Lx
Boon Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I wouldn't compare anything less than 4 4" aeros to a 6" 10.x volts fo' life!
fecupe2001 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 i built a box for a 3515 and a DD m2 and that thing POUNDS!! i did 4.2 cubic feet and 72 SQ of port, for that sub, i would do AT LEAST a single 8" aeroport, 2 6´s should work great, 4-4.5 cubic feet should sound very good, you don´t have lots of power so it should ok I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Joe X Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I wouldn't compare anything less than 4 4" aeros to a 6" Friction losses are factored in the equation on which the Torres and other calculators are based so no need for additional considerations are necessary. And that's why you can't really replace two 4x4 vents with a 4x8 vent, the area is the same but losses are different.
TeamHT Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Welcome to tonight's late show! Featuring our first guest Joe X....... Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
drbizerk Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 i like how everyone likes to clown....joe x could have had some the insight that i was looking for. so what if the question was two years old! google "dd3515 box" (which is what i wanna find) and this thread pops up first page
