DylanH
Okay so since my friend is basically an impulse buyer he bought a dual 4 ohm sub but didn't think to look at how he can wire it. We need to wire it at 4 ohms, he has an Audiopipe 3k and his sub can only handle 1,500 rms. What can we do? I know we can wire it at 2 ohms and 8 ohms but his sub won't handle 2 ohms and he doesn't want to run it at 8 since he won't have very much power. http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. CJ18
Just be careful setting the gains. I would check and see what the preouts on the sub channel of his HU are and set them for about 1/2 of that and then match the gains for that. DylanH
Okay well I just went and looked at his sub and it has 4 positives and 4 negative terminals but it says its a dual 4 ohm planet audio sub. What do?!? http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. Loudcivic
it has more positives and negatives for easier wiring with the voice coils. just wire it at 2 ohms and keep the gains low. 2015 silverado crew cab nothing atm but soon... HHR Ed
This is in the wrong section so I am going to move it. But you said the sub wont handle 2ohms? That doesnt make sense. Did you mean that the sub cant handle the power the amp puts out a 2ohms? I hope so. And that amp is a bit overrated, so if you run it at 2ohms to that 1 sub, and adjust it correctly, you wont have any issues, use your ears and brains, if you hear distortion, turn it down. A little overhead in power is usually a good thing.
