hiding crossover question for the ballers on here

Recommended Posts

I am trying to step my game up some in my Avalanche, and upgrade my front stage to keep up with the SD8k I am running for the low end. My original plan was to put 2 Powerbass 4xl 6.5's and 2 pairs of Crescendo 6.5 component sets in each front door. Doing this would I would only have to mount 2 crossovers in each door.

But some people have been recommending on just using 4 sets of the Crescendo's, but if I do, I do not how I would go about mounting 4 crossovers in each door.

Mounting them in the truck isn't a practical solution, as trying to run that many speaker wires through the boot into the door is going to be impossible.

My question to all the experts on here, with multiple sets of components in the doors, how do you all go about fitting in that many crossovers?

You called me? (I'm the only baller on SMD :peepwall: )

Seriously though, you don't need to install the xovers in the doors. You can mount them anywhere you want, the cleanest place and easiest to get to most of the time is right next to your amps. Makes life real easy!

  • 3 weeks later...

you should have plenty of room to run the wires through the door boot. i have 6 speakers in each door and my x-overs are hidden under the seats

R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.

passive cross overs rely on impedance, you want them close as you can get to the drivers

Very true! Impedence rise is a big problem with passive xovers. More wire would just ad to the effect. And it would most Likely screw with the xovers zobel circuits with more wire.

Thx for this I'm going to check on my passive crossovers since I extended the wiring for easy access without thinking about it!
