I'd be interested in seeing if instead of 45s, do a quarter section of a pvc pipe in the corners since its rounded

Thanks for doing this for us bro

  • 3 weeks later...

Not really man, i´ve used almost all this things on every box i build and always work great, i know there are a couple of extra things that i could try, but i´ve been lazy hehe, i mean, i spent almost the entire 2011 testing out the explorer, i tried at least 11 different boxes and configurations and it was time to stop before i got bored,i might update this topic with another couple of things before i wall the sexplorer, we´ll see.

Any ideas you guys want to try???

Wall? Hell yeah.

Ever try using weather stripping or foam tape around the sub cutout to help seal any leaks around it? I've always wondered if that would help.

haha it´s time for a wall, don´t you think? i´ve never owned a wall before, and, i have all the equipment, i was going to start building it in a couple of weeks BUT, i´m going to SBN and i need money to drink like a mofo, so, i don´t want to spend a lot of money on materials and leave my bank account that low with a trip coming soon to the US :(

mmmm that´s a good one actually, biggest difference would definitely be if the sub isn´t very well cutted don´t you think? anyway, i might try that soon, also, i never tried attaching the box to the car to stop any little movement or vibration, that should give you at least 0.00001 dbs lol, any other idea??? come on boys, bring them so i can start testing again :)

How bought series wiring vs parrallel wiring ... I heard parrallel is louder....of course it would take at least 2 subs to try this...to get same ohm load.. I have all my subs parrallel then I series back up to get desired ohm load...then in the future if you get 2 of the same amps.. id like you to see which is louder strapped or unstrapped

This is true, as far as I know. If you parallel the coils on each sub, and then series the subs it should get louder than it would wired vise versa.

Basic ohms laws for series and parallel wiring and the basics of electromagnetic force and flux point to that as being so anyway.

Edit: Strapped or unstrapped is a great question. It makes me wonder the same thing about bridging 2 channel amps.

Now we are talking!! I might wire both of my AB´s and test strapped vs unstrapped, give me a couple of weeks and i´ll try that for you guys, tons of people say that , strapped brings the impedance rise higher, don´t know if that´s tru tho...

About series vs parallel, i once saw ed lester´s video and also Brian explained to me, i tried that once but i wired everything wrong lol so i was too lazy and didn´t try it again, i do own tons of subs and i can try this, it´s a little bit more work but it´s cool, 2 or 3 new tests coming in a few weeks then :)
