The DD-1 is a great tool for the average consumer to set gains consistently and accurately. But, a DD-1 is not an end all solution to never clipping your woofers. Different songs are written at different levels, some include clipping from the start and some don't. It is the users responsibility to be "in tune" with their setup and recognize when they are pushing to hard and adjust. For example, I've watched the man Steve himself alter his levels constantly depending on song and frequency. I saw it as a constant monitoring of the health of the setup and controlling variables. I'm sorry you thought this woofer was indestructible and using the DD-1 was definitely a good move now you need to refine these skills by using the DD-1 with the right tones (I used 40hz -10db for my Scope) and constantly improving on how you are controlling the system. -Drew **Remember, woofers and amps are stupid. A tool is only as good as its user and as you can see youre the phillips head screwdriver to a flat head screw. The reason it blew is simple. Go look in a mirror. The woofer and amp only do what you tell it to. If you wanted more and wanted louder I guess you didnt work that hard because you would have had two level6s on 10k. Shall I keep going. You want to sell a badass sub that is one of the hardest subs to blow around because a recone is too expensive, but what are you going to get next? Guess what, the sundown, AQ, AA, or even another DC sub that is cheaper is just going to blow again when you tune the amp the same way and dont learn from your mistakes! That is caused by clipping. If you used anything other than the 0db tone, I can almost guarantee that you are clipping. If you are burning through the former, there is clipping in there somewhere that is causing that heat.

OP...ur wrong...they havent all been clipping, ive seen quite a few vids of ppl who've gained from using it...bigger names than urs...u only clipe if u set ur shit wrong...set it right the first time, no problems, when i manage to save up enough for a DD-1 i will more than likely use a 0 tone so i dont hafta worry about clipping, ur sitting here with ur blown ass sub and plenty of people are telling u what happened and ur saying its impossible...every sub will blow in time...u had it in a half-assed box (u said so urself) i can bet that even a little Old School Punch 150 would blow a DC lvl6 if given a shit box and clipped....clipping is clipping...power is pretty irrelevant, the only difference is time, it will blow, just takes time.
