Let me start out by saying this. I have NO CLUE what is going on with the AA SMD woofer. Every 3-6 months i hear "its going to come out". Lots of silence in between. I have a Van which needs woofers and a Civic which is almost done but needs the RE MT's replaced. I was planning on the v2 SMD subs for those projects. As of right now, i have no idea if that is ever going to happen. Any Joe off the street knows as much as i do. Nothing. That being said, while i wait to see what's going to happen, i have this 91' Toyota Tercel sitting there, with 2 cylinders still pumping out about 20hp of pure get up on a trailer power. I decided, i want to try something different. I am thinking i will wall this bitch all the way to the B-Pillar with a huge port and have some dont-give-a-shit fun with this car. In other words, its no Lexus ISF, i can do what i want, even if that is cut a hole, break glass, put sheet rock screws through the roof (with silicone for extra seal) (jokes ). This project is going to take some time. I wan't to do a 160 or better with it. I plan on using DC Audio Amps, possibly 2 or 4 9.0k's. I am going to focus on the enclosure first and use the entire trunk to power the beast. Now for my disclaimer. I have NO IDEA how the Tercel will meter. Some cars (CRX for example) are natural SPL number machines. They just WORK. The Tercel MIGHT do a big number, it might not. I can only try. So if i do all this work, and the number sucks, then ill just have to keep trying. I plan on showing just about every step and there will prob be some bumps in the road. I am willing to do whatever i gotta do though and i hope it at LEAST breaks the windshield :D Thanks to RUSTY at DC - i ordered up the Level 5 15's, and they were here in 3 days. And they are GORGEOUS. Just some early rough measurements to see what kind of space i have to work with. Not totally accurate but close enough to let me know my options.

6 SMD Distortion Detector DD-1's VS. 2 Oscilloscope's - testing some customer returns on the bench with typical results. Even had one guy say "it doesn't work on my amp because it isn't in sync with my other distortion detector. I think it's broke". Turns out his "other distortion detector" was a clip light on his bass knob. I have heard all sorts of stories...Whatever, send it back. I gotta adjust my return policy LOL

pulled in for an oil change today and while i was waiting, i asked if i could test drive an LS460 to kill time. I told them i absolutely wasn't buying it today, just trying to kill time......but they were very cool and brought me one out anyway. It's a SUPER NICE car - i want one! But i gotta pay off my F150 first and get rid of some other pink slips before i can even think of that anyway here is a few pictures.

Just reading the link means to me that you shouldn't try powering the dd-1 from a cars charging systems it's not saying not to tune it when the vehicle off. It specifically says that it uses the 9v battery so it will measure distortion in the audio signal and not noise in the charging system.

It was said long ago from Steve himself, I believe, to set with the vehicle OFF. The reason behind it was so the noise of the vehicle itself(alternator whine for example) wasn't a possible factor with the vehicle being off. With the vehicle OFF, there isn't going to be that possible distortion to allow the device to accurately measure and isolate what's going on with the amp and HU.

Nice reminder video Steve! Never ceases to amaze me how people will quickly blame a product and then talk shit about it when it's really user error along with the fact that they didn't take the 5mins to read and follow a very simple manual. I see stuff like this all day long.... People cut corners and have horrible electrical systems and when something blows, it's always the test equipment's fault.......SMH. Shows great customer service that you take all these in with no hesitation.

I believe in your product, it works when you trust the manual and do what it says. Thank you the products you have taken the time to invent and market.

First thing i had to do was find the old B-Pillar Plastic and re-install it. I plan on attaching the box to this to finish off my air-tight seal and make it look better as well. Before anyone asks, this thing passes the string test by 3/8" or more (with subs in place). The plastic back in place More fiberglass. The box has at least 2 layers, in some spots 3 of 19oz mat. I used standard glass for most of the inside of the box due to not having good sunlight able to reach the depths of the "cave". For smaller area's, i used SunFlash so i could see how good my UV light works. It works GREAT! Only problem is, you have to move the light around. I could def initely use a bigger light or more of these. For kick panels or small area's, its awesome though! This right here is the reason i like SMD Sunflash better then standard resin. I will be using this cup and brush for months. You can see how many i used just to do the inside with the normal stuff.
