Pretty sure they do bolt up to the block. The problem you run into is that the intake manifold bolts that go into the cylinder heads are at a different angle on the Vortec heads. So this means- new Vortec intake manifold too. This could also mean new Vortec Injection, linkage, etc... AAAND- depending on the application, your bolts in the front of the heads that hold the accessories and serpentine belt assembly on could be in different locations or not there at all. So, there are a lot of variables with the whole thing. I thought about going Vortec when I re-did my 4.3 Then the deeper I got into the research, the easier it became to either go 350, or just go stock.

DB Electrical has been around for a while, so they seem pretty reputable. I don't know this as fact, but I get the gut feeling that they simply re-manufacture and rebuild those alts with "hot" parts (hence the overdrive pulley). Don't get me wrong- I did the exact same thing you did: I rebuilt my small case alternator with hot parts from Spring Hill Auto Electric too. Put a small pulley on it and let her rip. I have low voltage issues at Idle too- not really low, but none of this 14.4+ at idle. At 1,000+ rpm though, it holds pretty well. I don't compete with this thing and wouldn't be able to. Plus- I really don't trust it enough to be a daily driver. Neither of these are close to a proper DC Power, MechMan, or etc... but- they are half the price. So... you get what you pay for. ***NINJA'd!!!***

Pretty much all comps seem to be 5 hours away, unless you live in a big city- and even then, to make other shows- well, they are 5+ hours away too.

Nice that you did your own park!! Here is my truck: 3/4 ton, 4" lift, full restoration. Cammed up 327 with 4.11 gears and 35's. Hardly ever sees mud. Too heavy really. More of a fun truck / tow mule.

lolz. Ahh... clamshells. Tahvo87- put your wet finger in the air, and whichever way the wind blows... build the clamshell that way. There are so many variables- what tune you want, daily, loud or move air, sq, wattage, on and on.....

Yes- you have to isolate each battery to see if one of them is bad or low on voltage. One may be pulling the others down.

Second. Voltages on each battery?? It wouldn't hurt to take them to AutoZone/Napa/etc... and get them load tested. Also like has been said- do continuity tests on your fuses, grounds, and power wires.

Doh! Looks like I may not make it after all. I did the math and my van will cost me about $180 in gas alone. I will be down south LA with the wife & her fam, but taking 2 cars that far... $$ ouch $$. Maybe I will get to pop in at the show...

That is NICE! Definitely custom and different. I think it is the asymmetrical design / mass & void that makes it cool to me- that and it is wicked clean!

Japanese are Crazy!!! MTX 7000's were nothing to mess with back in the day! The hot setup- MTX & Orion. Back when that meant something IMHO. Great Vid.
