^ This. This is probably the best response in this thread, not typical for someone with 43 posts here LOL. Yeah it sounds really technical but he's right. If you take the Thiele/Small params of your sub and put them into a program that will graph your response curve (like WinISD) then you can see the effects that changing your enclosure will make. For my sub, even though EPB is 46 I went ported. It sounds pretty tight and WinISD modeled a group delay less than 20 ms at tuning, so I'm good. I also have a 5.1db advantage on ported over sealed from 55hz all the way down to subsonic. I also tuned pretty damn low, 29 hz, but it's still better than sealed. All in all, ported is generally better for getting loud. Sure, sealed can get loud too, but take the same sub and put it in a proper vented enclosure and watch it slam the old sealed box you had. I think your friend is pushing sealed just because he hasn't been able to build a good vented enclosure. If you built your sub to 1/16th of the manufacturer spec'd box, then you're doing way better than sealed.

Doooo Eeeeeiiit! That is my favorite truck of all time... 73-87s rule! Also I see plenty of room for multiple alts. The only thing I'd suggest is that you replace the body frame mounts before you start building... there will be a lot of flex between the cab and bed with those old dryrotted mounts.

Subs + Wall Outlet = FUN!!!

LOL! Yeah, even I'm like WTF. Wasn't THAT funny. I just a big fan of Quiznos... Toasted Subs -
Folded horns are better in more open areas like theaters and concerts. Doesn't do much in a car except take up a lot of room. Cabin gain has a similar functionality already so the extra box isn't really necessary.

Yeah last Saturday night I felt it here in Dallas. At first I couldn't tell what it was, heard the house shake a bit. I touched the wall and felt the quake. -

goddamn can't get 142 IN my car LOL -
It maybe too new but the Kia Rondo is huge and gets 26mpg. Kinda screams family car but has the cargo room. More than a caliber. I think you meant "No OLDER than a 2001" Not later... 2002 is a later model year than 2001 BTW, caught me off guard. Just sayin. Oh, and Hyundai Tuscon's have decent room, 2005's should be selling for $7-8k and they get 25 mpgs.

Interesting. Not as interesting as your avatar, but interesting none the less. I can dig it but I am a little drunk right now. Will revisit this sober in the morning. Love your 3 port enclosure. It's good to see someone who isn't afraid to try out stuff... People liek me just talk a lot of shit and don't do much LOL
