    You can't count on rise cause its doesn't stay the same. You have no idea if its going to rise .5 ohms or 5ohms. YOU HAVE NO CLUE, until you clamp. What about playing below tuning and you get less rise? That can be VERY bad with overpower and then the sub is unloading. Therefore a destroyed sub cause somebody on the internet said it was right. I'm not saying you can run double the RMS, but you can't go around saying its ok cause of impedance rise. That's a joke.

    You can't count of rise when picking a amp. That's not smart. You have no idea how much it rises. And what about playing below tuning where you hardly have any rise? This is why noobs blow and mess up all kinds of equipment cause of comments like this. If the sub is rated at 1200, you need a +/-1200rms. Not 2200rms cause you might only see 1200rms out of it on music.

    Most cars charge above 14 volts. It could be upto 14.9. This could be why its higher than just 14. But you can't always go by the factory volt meter. Best thing to do is take a DMM and see what its really reading at.

    If it was me, I'd buy a good set of components in the doors off a 2 channel and a pair coax in the back doors off head unit power.

    May I ask why exactly you have to have 14volts at the amp under a load? If its cause you want the little extra power, I VERY seriously doubt you'll be able to tell the difference.

    He never said he had a 14v battery. And if he does he's not "stuck" with it, he can sell it. And I think it's more affordable to get 2 14v batts then getting a 16v batt, alt, AND stepdowns. I agree. But I still vote for a better alternator. It might even cost less than 2 14 volt batteries, and/the stepdown method.

    You usually need two stepdowns to run a car properly. Honestly its not worth it. Like I said, either buy 2 14volts or a new higher output alternator would be best IMO.

    Yes it will increase thermal power handling. With this sub mechanical power handling if where you run into trouble. Its just not designed for a ton more than rating. I would just get a dual 1 and wire in series. It will be a almost perfect match.

    I didn't say it wasn't good but 150 amps is rather small these days. Some companies have some that put out 200 amps at idle and 300 max output. That's double what you have.

    Still isn't a smart thing to do. If you want 14 volts, buy a better alternator. Or buy two 14 volt batteries and something to adjust the voltage to 16.8 volts.(Charging voltage for 14 volt batteries.)

    I've heard both... The level 5 handles plenty of power, but it just didn't jump out at like the XL did. Both was switched out in same box on same amp. Only difference level 5 was at .5ohms and XL was at 1ohm on a Sundown3500. I thought the XL was louder and had a better sound.

    Don't let other people influence you into overpowering your subs. The SX's has a RMS of 1200 correct? So safely 2000 is prolly a good limit. A 3500d would be a good match.
