When I had that one thread about how it would be nice to have a new comp association, This is the kind of thing I would love to see, not to compete person to person, but just to show off. Its not hard to build a home made subwoofer useing home made parts, but nobody wants to allow them at shows. I used a 8" PG xmax sub, to make a 24"x24" 1/8" plexi panel subwoofer back in 04' and was great till the plexi cracked in half

wd40 is great on rubber based glues. Basically silicone or rubber based glues. CA, I have no idea. All the speakers I have ever built on the side, or at the factory are rubber based, and wd40 kicks a$$ ... but different companies use different glues, but about 50% use rubber based

there is a few great simple stuff to use to clean woofers. What we used at the speaker shop was (depending on the dome-printed designs-ect) WD-40 is absolutley awsome on poly/rubber/glossypaper cones/surround/domes Even with Foam, I still somewhat go over the surround, but dont drench it, just a one over on the surround if its foam. If you have the chemical laying around, Toulene is the best cleaning liquid for cone stains (poly glossy paper/carbon fiber rubber surrounds) but again, watch out for the painted domes. And Armor All also works like the guy up there said ^^^^

Thats somethin I also want to get a hold of, a crx or a civic hatch, and do street A or B... and 154ish is damn loud for a pair of 10" pioneers no matter how much power you got on them. And yeah, walls can be tricky... I still only built one, but waiting on my 3rd and 4th

its hard to just jump in to a spl project with very little experience. I have no idea what experience you have as far as car audio, actually hell, full out spl is more based on high current electrical, and accoustic knowledge over car audio installation experience. Ive been installin for 12years, the last 4years I was a gawd damn speaker engineer for a major subwoofer engineering firm, and I built all the home audio prototype boxes, prototype subwoofers, Memphis was a customer of ours, and finally only about 4 years ago Ive been interested in SPL, and 2years ago I actually attempted to compete. With all that experience, I have learned the most in only the last couple years. I personally wouldnt even want a 160db system to compete with, I just want the smallest woofer putting out the highest spl, at the lowest freq possible, and just get serious props for it But a Van job, would def be fun to mess with

Ive been in to car audio since about 90', had my first stereo before I ever had a car, put it in my dads car. Started installing P/T in 94' (18yrs old) quit in 96' Started installing again in 98' till present, yet for some reason, I cant get a single nice install for myself, yet on other peoples cars I get down. But as for myself, I usually keep my boxes un carpeted, same as my fiberglassing :^ I usually buy the first stereo with the sub outs, or built in adjustable EQs... Anyways, I can usually get a system up and running, and be the loudest guy on the block for about $450-500 But at 31yrs old, Iam still sporting a DEHP-5800 in my 85' S10 with no dash kit, interior is half ripped out, a box in the back, with no amp, because Iam saving to spend about $250 on an amp. 8"s in fiberglass speaker bods waiting on resin/hardner/grill cloth , 4" mids and tweets also in kickpanels waiting on resin/hardner/grill cloth.... Cant afford everything at once... so Iam just waiting on money to roll in to piece stuff together.... Then Iam going to Meades so he can meter my "Special" box :^

common chamber is how you can gain some spl. Supposivly the achievment is supoosed to be 1.5db when you switch from seperate to shared chamber (2-subs seperate/2 subs common-thats what the MECP study book says when I studied for it a few years back) But No, that does not mean you will gain 24db by going from a wall of individually sealed boxes, to 1 common chamber box, but there will be a gain. Another thing I remember was that individual boxes, over common chamber increase the lows, and common chamber increases the higher freq portion -and no, none of it would be audibly noticeable, only mic'd can tell a difference. People run subs common chamber all the time in walls, and boxes, and tune low, and get some extreme low freqs, like ofcourse, look at meade. 4-18s common chamber ported, and Ive heard it, well, it hurt me-incredible lows

You can tell thats a serious amp from the guts, and then when you see the side view, and can see how thick the alum heat sink is, not many amps heat sinks are that thick

out here, Hifonics are pretty cheap, because of places like Frys Electronics, and I think that was an amp they sell over there. But after looking at that amps guts, it looks like a good strong amp, minus that burned spot ofcourse

I think I know what that box is for, not audio at all I think he gets like a 30hz tone going, and stick his pee pee in it for a real BLOW job

its the dome that is supposed to light up, I only built the box, I didnt install it. I actually built the box 1" over, and the box was a lil tight, but thats what I get for building the box after taking some quick measurments, and then he was on a budget. I think Iam going to talk him in to going with a lil basic fiberglassing, and doing somewhat a mini wall, and add some 6.5"s on the wall.. The stock speakers in the back side penels are drowned out, and I can get more air space from the fiberglassing as well, and maybe drop the tunning a tad more.

that sux... they are soon to be outlawed in cali also. i have a pure bread red nose stafordshire terrier (aka pit bull) though i would never ever put my little girl (90lb) in a pit or cage to fight anything... i will post up pics soon! Ive had a grudge with pitts and rotts for about 15yrs now. Ive had the bad luck of being attacked by both breeds, by minding my own business walking down the street. So, I got myself a dog to help me get over my fear of rotts and pits, but damnit she is a pssy! doesnt help me much

I would like to compete idbl/iasca, but there is only 1 contest a year out here from any one of them. Dbdrag atleast there is one about every other month. Ive competed in Battle Of the Bass a couple times, and that is why I like useing that Crunch amp $79 sub $100, deck, $200, and meter a 145db... I got like a 3rd for a minute, then down to 5th... then when second round came, I had to take off, and missed my second round, so I didnt get to play a better song, or play with my windows. New box design I have been working on for like 6 months, Iam hopeing to get back in battle of the bass, with the same $79 amp, $150- 15", and hopefully I will see a larger gain than that last box

First off, Id like to say, I love Memphis products, worked with Memphis for about 4years doing speaker engineering/assembly. Great quality, great customer service. Second, a carbon fiber dust dome has nothing to do with excursion. It was a cosmetic feature, stronger, less able to blow up, or even blow off. Xmax is based on how thick the top plate is, in comparison to the height of the voice coil. Say a 1" top plate, and a 3" VC winding width, that would be about 1" each way xmax, and then again,(also depending wheather it is a dual gap top plate design, over hung, under hung coil) a well designed speaker will also have a spider, and surround that will alloy easy xmax capabilities

Comming back? Out here in this part of Cali, hes is always a non stop hit. Between records, he is still as popular as he is when he comes out with sht. Well, maybe the radio hypes it up when he releases a new album.
