  1. I've got it and love it! I'd recommend it to anyone, but don't think it's going to be a plug and play setup for dummies. This deck is made for sound quality and as so it's pretty important to do all the fine tuning with it and you WILL be impressed. I've used the same setups (amp and subs) and transferred them to many friends vehicles and no other head units out there can compare. Like I say, buy it. You will NOT be disappointed. Enough said.
  2. I've used the Walmart 4 gauge install kit on numerous occasions doing installs for friends, it's DECENT. Come's with everything you need plus more that you don't. I don't like the fuse holder that comes with it, but hey, it's not in my truck so... However, whenever I'm asked what to do by everyone before I do their install I recommend them going to walmart and picking that kit up or the monster cable 8g. kit, depending on how much power they will be using.
  3. That looks like some good stuff, but idk, if I have the 16 gauge already... It's RF so it's decent quality, I'm just wondering if it's going to be sufficient for the power. Anyone else got some feedback?
  4. Shit, just noticed, this might be in the wrong forum. Or idk, is it considered an subwoofer/enclosure question? My bad guys.
  5. Ok so I'm going to pre wire my box terminals now and need to know what gauge will do for my specs. It will be a 1 ohm total load on the amp, (two 4 ohm 10" DC lvl2's with voice coils parallel, as well as both of them parallel to the amp.) The amp will produce a 600 watt RMS load, so each speaker will receive 300 watts RMS. I have some leftover 10 (I believe) gauge that I will run from the outside box terminal to the amp (a few inches) but my question is, will 16 gauge wire inside be sufficient? From the terminals they would each go to a speaker, (about 2-3 feet). I know when distributing power wire, at the distribution you split from the heavy gauge to equal smaller gauge, does this apply for speaker wire as well? If so will this be correct for my setup? I have the 16 on hand, so will it work in this configuration? Thanks guys.
  6. I had always thought that mp3 is an always better quality rather than cd. Depending on how the mp3 is read and such is what determines how well it sounds. Using an mp3 player through the headphone jack is a terrible way to go in my opinion, however the full speed ipod and usb route would seem better, (basically the same as mp3 cd's) In my situation I almost ALWAYS go with data cd's and I try my hardest to get my songs in 320kb/s quality. Never less than 128.
  7. Hey guys, just curious what the difference between a 2.2ch (3 way) system is and a 4.2 (F/R/Sub-W) system. My headunit features the option of setting up to either way but I've always just had it on factory setting of 4.2. In the future I will be adding in speakers after my new subs. I'm going to put in 4x6" replacements in the rear pillars, and I'm shooting towards 6.5" midranges in the doors with tweeters in the A-pillars, what is the difference in that setup compared to my current stock speaker configuration, and should I change the head unit crossover system after the new speakers? If anyone would be kind enough to give a bit of explanation it would be MUCH appreciated. Here's a link to the deck. http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...ng=en&tab=F Thanks tons!
  8. We've got 2 of those. One has a key chuck and one keyless, not sure why though... Makita is tha shit though, great buy.
  9. Man, that's fucked up... I think that is proper justification to beat someone with a broomstick before breaking it off in they ass. The worst part is when a thief breaks all the stock parts of your vehicle. All the stereo equipment and what not is all easy to find in stores. Door panels and other plastic parts like that are a bitch to find and you feel like you're spending money you shouldn't be when you're buying those things.
  10. Personally I trust almost trust that method more. It definitely comes in handy when you're cutting off a full 4x8 sheet and don't have another person to help you with the table saw.
  11. Not sure about the newer cobalt line, I've heard good things about the older versions though... I've got a new HCCA working great in my truck though. Orion makes a good amp in my opinion.
  12. Good god, you know some shit's about to go down when someone is gonna show off their bass and they pull the fuckin headrest off and set it on the roof...
  13. I just make a mean glare at the pencil and it draws the circle perfectly itself.
  14. Haha, the bum bum song was pretty funny, but seriously try out this track in your systems, you'll be laughing and bassing.
  15. Got a new video today. I installed an amp and subs in a friends 04 dodge ram and we went out to a parking lot to tune it and he wanted to hear my setup. While I was playing my stuff some girls drove up and showed some love to their favorite magician.
  16. Yeah, I never trust it. The feature of gorilla glue is that it expands, something you do NOT want happening between your box sides. T-nuts were presented from god himself.
  17. Those are nice cables! Yes, ALWAYS run your RCA's on the opposite side of the vehicle and try not to cross your power wire any where in your setup. Makes for a great ending sound.
  18. That's wierd, on my alpine when I had an ipod I got a little less output from the ipod in reference to an mp3 cd. Technically I would assume that they should be the same either way. I assume that the ipod just stores the mp3 just as the cd, and the alpine just plays it. I wouldn't think the ipod eq and other settings would apply if that were the case... You would think the alpine should just bypass the damn apple firmware and just read the direct mp3 file... I guess that's just not how ipod's like to work... I don't know, I'm thinking too hard about it. Personally I cant stand ipod's, if you HAVE to use a sync to get the music on then the device is stupid and cant create it's database itself. :censored: Ah well, as apple controls the mp3 player market I guess alpine had to go with them...
