  1. This is the motherfucker you want to listen to. Rob more than likely has the loudest trunk GP in the world. Dude is a bit crazy, but when you are trying to break a 155 out of the trunk with a pair of 10's and 15K watts you ain't right in the head
  2. Well lucky for you my wife had a 1996 contour and is the exact same thing. What seemed to work well was the woofer firing foward and the port to the driver's side on the side of the enclosure. I cut all the plastic pannel that is on the back wall of the trunk mounted to the rear seats. It helped to get some of the sound into the vehicle but it pretty much sucks since the seats don't fold down at all. You might be able to try cutting the rear deck out some to port it there. I think that would work but it is going to be trial and error. I can tell you to tune around 37 in that car and you'll be good. While I never metered the car I did have a box in there tuned to 36 and it did great for her.
  3. You'll know when we post test results of it in my car Seriously though I'm pretty sure Jake is gonna let me try the V2, but I won't be the first one to use it. I'm sure it will be tested in the magic box first, but then it will go right into the ZX3
  4. I got my tracking number the Monday after the sale. I figured it would be at least that long since I wasn't expecting them to ship on Saturday. My sub will be here on the 10th and then the wife's car will be rocking. No more RF P1 12 for here anymore, she's going X, lol. Thanks Fi!!!!!!
  5. I run 2 Sundown 2000d's in my car for daily and burps. Daily I run them each at .5 ohms. My electrical consists of a Deka G34 up front, 2 XS Power D 3100's in the spare tire well, 3 runs of 0 guage from the + to the rear, big 3 done in 0 up front, and a 260 amp Iraggi alt. The setup doesn't drop below 13 volts full tilt. I am getting ready to run a set of 0 guage wires to the back from the same place where the alt is grounded up front. That should help me gain a few tenths spl and voltage wise since there is some drop. For spl I run the same amps strapped at .5 ohms, so each amp see's .25 ohms. They will protect unless you roll the volume up gradualy. The electrical is the same as the daily electrical. I do not drop below 13.3 on a full tilt burp. I haven't clamped the amps since I added the new alt to the car but when I had the stock and the voltage dropped to 11.8 on a full tilt burp I made just over 5200 watts. I would say I'm much closer to 6K watts now. I hope this helps you out some.
  6. For daily I tune all my boxes for my own vehicle to 37hz. It's not too low and not too high. It will play 30hz no problem as well as 50hz with ease. Everything from The Dave Matthews Band to E-40 sounds good and can be played loud on my box in my car. The rolloff is pretty nice too. I've only tested it on burps and the peak note for my daily box is 43hz and will do a 151.9 there. I haven't tested the rolloff since I've made upgrades but when it did a 151.3 at 43hz it would do a 150.2 at 35hz and even a 149.7 at 30hz as well as a 149.8 at 47hz and still put up a 149.0 at 50hz. It also helps to know the resonant freq of your vehicle so you can tune around that. You can still get very loud tuning away from the resonant freq but it takes more work. In my case the resonant freq of my ZX3 is 52hz and I tune to 37hz. While I can do a 151.9 with a box that is tuned to 37hz peaking at 43hz I have my spl box that is tuned to 46hz peaking at 52hz and does a bit over a 153. I am getting an increase due to the cabin gain. May I ask what kind of vehicle is it? That would honestly help me to tell you where would be a good place to start for tuning that will give you some cabin gain. Unless your only interested in playing super low freq's like some people then it's not a good idea to tune around your resonant freq cause it will more than likely be too high unless you have a large suv.
  7. It depends on which coil you have. The ones in my Nightshades are 50mm coils but there were also other different sizes. Iirc there were 42mm, 50mm, and 56mm length coils that were used in the Nightshades. The 46mm coil was in the origional and was the loudest of the 3, the 56mm coil was the long coil option that Jake was offering, and the 50mm coils are the newest that have the vents in them. Only a select few have the vented 50mm coils since the Nightshade is no longer in production.
  8. If the battery voltage is 14.5 on each side of the fuse then there is pretty much no way that the fuse is blown. The batts in the back wouldn't show 14.5 volts if they weren't connected to the front charging off the alt. You can pretty much rule out a blown fuse.
  9. Check your grounds and connections into your amp. I will almost bet that you either have a ground that has come or is coming loose or your ground is coming out of the amp's terminal. I doubt anything is wrong with your power wire at all. This sounds like a ground issue.
  10. Congrats man! It will pay off for you in the long run for sure. Just stick with it and don't let yourself get distracted too much.
  11. Also the guys that said they had their alts installed for 20 and 70 never said that Iraggi did the install. They just said that they were running his alts is all.
  12. Nice scores. What size alt/alts are you planning on running?
  13. Nice Jake! Maybe when the woofer comes out I'll change my name to Nightshade V2 lol.
  14. I guess this could be the issue in my car as well. I will try the same thing as you and see if I have the same type of results. If so thanks for the tip here. I did do one thing and I haven't tried to turn the volume up quick like I would during a bassrace run yet since I've only drove in residental area. I had extended the wires coming from the speakers to the amp and didn't use a butt conector, I just twisted them together and then electrical taped over them. I removed that part and the wire was still long enough to get to the amp, but when I was doing so I also found that the speaker wire from that amp was getting pinched under the box. The speaker wire from the other amp was not so maybe that was the case to why mine was doing so. I need to take a drive out on the highway for a minute to get the car to full tilt to see if that was the issue. I'll still let you guys know otherwise.
  15. Your not losing that much pressure from your hatch. I can burp my ZX3 with the hatch not even completely latched and I only drop by about .7db's. I found this out because there are some little rubber stopper type things on my hatch that were sticking out way too far from vibration I guess and didn't allow the hatch to completely close. Once I tighetend them back up the score jumped up by .7 db. I would also be willing to bet that since your volatge is dropping so low that is what is not letting you achieve the output you should be. What does your voltage drop to when you burp the car? What amps are you running and what does the electrical consist of? If you say stock alternator and you are running over 3K watts then I promise you that is the first thing you need to address more than some air leaking out the hatch.
  16. Out of the 3 that you listed Sundown, AQ, and DC the Sundown are by far the best imo. I'm not sure if you've seen the score that Jacob, the owner of Sundown, did with his Jeep but it was with 4 SA12's and 2 3500's and he did over a 154 with them. They can take well over 2K watts for burps and will handle over a thousand on a daily basis if your smart about it. I've never seen the other two woofers mentioned perform like that with 2X the rated power on them. Also Sundown's customer service is the BEST out there. I will personally challenge you to prove me wrong on that one Jake is one of the only owner's that I know of that is actively in the competition lanes right beside his customers to offer support as well as a challenge!
  17. I'm having a similar issue in my vehicle with one of my saz2000d's. It's the same amp that protects every time. It really only does it when I run a bassrace run cause I turn the volume up quick to get to a 149.9 The other amp is fine in my case just like yours. My voltage doesn't drop below 13 on music so I'm not sure why it is doing this either. I'm going to Jacob's sometime this week and if I figure it out I'll definately let you know what it was in my case so maybe it will help you out too.
  18. Sorry I voted for Bobby Riley. If anyone deserves a sponsorship from a company it's him because he knows what to do with it. No offense but I've never heard of you or anyone else in the contest. Bobby is the only veteran competitor on that list that will more than likely put the RF gear to best use. Just because someone gives you a bunch of stuff doesn't mean that you'll be loud. You have to know what you are doing and since I've never heard of the rest that is the reason I voted for him. I'm not knocking you in any way at all so good luck.
  19. I'm speachless after watching a few of these vids. WTF???????????????
  20. Rob what kind of 0 guage is that on the spool there? Also are you going to get those batts in the trunk so you can run in the NSPL trunk class?
  21. My turkey is cooking right now and I'm the one doing it. The wife is working at her job right now and I'm the one that has to cook dinner. We won't be eating until around 8 or so cause she doesn't get done with work until 7:30.
  22. That 3500 looks like it needs to be put to use. I'm sure it's tired of sitting in the box, I can haz it?
  23. You are looking for passive crossovers right? They are the ones that come with a comp set that you have to mount near the speaker to cross them over. If so I have a great pair of crossovers from the PPI 555CS speakers that will even let you biamp them. I could ship if interested. I didn't use them even though I wanted to cause I ended up running active off my Sundown sax50.4 instead. I would consider taking $40 plus shipping if your interested. Let me know cause I don't mind hanging on to them either since they're pretty bad ass passive x overs. Here's a link to a pic of them: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_ne...amp;source=ebay
  24. Well... when do you want me to come and pick it up, lol? J/k, I'm sure that she can wait until they go into production. I wouldn't be surprised though if she asks you about it next time she sees you
