  1. Been planning this for my son since before he was born. Kinda wish he'd hurry up and get old enough to drive one so I could go ahead and start. He's only 2 months old (tomorrow), so I have plenty of time, I think. And that Gravedigger one is pretty cool. I've seen it a few times
  2. The SPLX's are only rated at 1,000, 2,000 burp. Don't think they'd handle 8k for too long. I have thought about adding another 6500 just to see, but I don't really have the recone money right now. Plus I have been wanting 8 of these subs for quite a while now, it's just about time to go ahead and do just that. Maybe then I'll be up there with the heavy hitters from Florida that visit this forum.
  3. 4 soundStream SPLX-154 on a SoundStream xxx6500d. Soon to be going to 8 splx-154 subs on 2 xxx-6500d amps I wanted to do my personal best. I wasn't worried about the money, or even beating anybody else. I wanted to beat my best score. I could drop down to the 130-139.9 class and get a constant 139.9, but.... wasn't worth it to me. I was the loudest of the day in bass race (thank god none of the Florida heavy hitters showed up or I would have had to fight harder). To me competing is about bettering myself, not winning against others. If I am louder the others at the time, well, then I did win against not only them, but myself also. I do see a 150+ with the current setup, just got to find the right song to do it with. Now that my team has access to a meter, well... I may hold off on the other 4 subs and amp just to see that 150+ being broke by myself. I also found out that I really need to get some deadener in the van, which will help my score out some. There is no deadener from the baffle to the windshield, and very little in the back. One thing I did forget to do, and it gave me a couple dB last time I tested in the van. I forgot to lean the passenger seat forward all the way. May have hit a 148 just by doing that. Wish I could have gotten a video of the coke bottle dancing in the floorboard.
  4. I only had to do qualifying since I was the only one in that class. Everybody was in the 130-139.9 class due to it being an SPLmax cup event and the first place winner of that class would win $100. I just wanted to get a personal best, which I did but not by much. I was still pretty happy though. A whopping 146.7dB on music. Song play was track 8 on Lil Jon and the East Side Boys - Kings of Crunk. A lot of driving for only 30seconds of fun. It will probably be my last show, unless one is in my area, since gas prices are skyrocketing. Thinking about putting the van in storage and working on it for a while. Anyways, not sure how the video turned out, but here is my run. Click here to watch Bass-Race-Qualifying-6-21-08 I've made a promise to myself. I will be in the 150 class the next time my van competes. So until I know for a fact that I can get in the 50s, no more events.
  5. To bad ya can't get down to Jacksonville. But hell I probably wouldn't be here anway (especially today since I'm going to Bunnell). Oh well, we'll meet up one day.
  6. My team don't have one yet, but should by the end of the weekend. Supposed to pick one up in Bunnell today. If you're up for a little drive, go to Bunnell for the event. 7. If it did happen, you are justified in doing what you did. He swung first, you protected yourself, possibly a little more than needed, but still you protected yourself. If others that were there can't see that, well, f*** them.
  8. I can almost bet that the windshield wasn't installed properly by whoever did it, or the glass it self was defected. But at least you can brag that you're in the blown windshield club now. Good job.
  9. Damn, he's got one of the loudest systems in your area. I wish gas prices weren't so bad right now, I would show him one of the weakest systems in Florida, and make him think twice about thinking that. Anyways... I'd give him $1.98 for that whole setup
  10. Some companies also under rate their subs to cut down on the people blowing them.
  11. Looks like Audacity. Nice program for slowing down stuff and such
  12. Yea, Queball thinks he's loud. Just kidding man. Build looks great.
  13. Yes they can get loud and yes they can sound good. It's all the install. I love my wall
  14. I just went through and voted against him in every h2h he is in.Everybody here should do the same thing. Make that boy whimper like a beat dog (or worse)
  15. 40 a week unless I feel like working ot. Good thing about ot is IF I feel like working 1 hour I get paid for 2. If I feel like working 2 hours, I get paid for 4. And so on. Unfortunately I get paid every two weeks, which sucks. I try to work OT on the weeks I have no bills, or very little bills, to pay. That way it's more money to spend. And $30 an hr OT is not bad either.
  16. Digital Blue Voltage Meter Amp Amplifier SVMB This is the same one I use. If you get it, it may need to be calibrated to match your current voltage. Mine is about 1 tenth off from putting a DVM on the battery bank. FOr the price, it's well worth it. I would never have known about the problem I was having if it wasn't for it. My voltage was shorting out down to 6 volts, which is not for for a 16volt battery bank. You may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.
  17. Create an account at imageshack or photobucket. Upload the pics there. They'll give you the links needed to add to a forum. And I was wrong about the xxx-10000D. My mind was somewhere else at the time. Yes, they have been out for a while. It's the 12 and 15 that are not out yet. I really should have known that no matter what since I'm awaiting the 15000D to be available.
  18. I'd need to see pics of said equipment with your nickname in it. Reason being..... The xxx-10000D is not in the states yet, and won't be until close to the end of the year. At least I that's what I was told by my SS contact.
  19. I've already got the 4000D. Went for the 6500D (was borrowed) to the 4000D. Real nice amp, but I haven't been able to get full potential out of it yet due to power/alternator problems. From what I understand the 12, and 15 should be out by the end of the year. I've heard they are over seas right now. Unfortunately I can't tell you what they'll do on a 12volt system, since I run 16volt.
  20. I'm almost in the same boat as you. I'm thinking about putting my stro in storage and getting a little CRX automatic or something, just for competitions, and get another little Honda for driving around. Just recently started driving an Elantra. them things are pretty mice but hard on my back. I'd go with the MTs, 2 of them, and put the mojo 2000 on each one. (btw, I got a mojo 2000d for sale if ya need one.. haha). Facing into the cabin and sealed from the trunk. IF possible. That's just me though.
  21. All of them pretty much fall under the same category as Boss and Pyramid. They are sold at flea markets to hood rats that don't care about how something sounds, as long as it shakes the hell out of a trunk. I've had decent luck with TView monitors. Matter of fact I have a 7" Tview monitor in the van right now. Real decent for the price (I won it at an event). Logic SoundLabs are alright. I have ran a lot of their older stuff and did not have any problems. However, they are not anywhere near what you'd want to compete. (just a warning there). SoundStorm is the same as Boss Audio. Pyle used to be pretty good, now they are p.o.s. Volfenhaq. Never had any equipment form them, but have installed and heard quite a bit. Not entirely impressed. MA Audio. Higher end stuff is good. What is being sold in that catalog is probably what you'd see at a flea market though. Honestly.... If I was you, I'd save and get something a step up from what you'd see in a flea market. If you don't, well, you'll be asking, later down the road, why you keep getting walked over by your friends stereo. (seen it, done it, been there, hated it, trying to save you a headache). And this is my opinion. It does not reflect the opinions and SMD forum and/or it's members.
  22. My amp draws over 500amps (I beleive 545 but can't remember right now). My alternator outputs 350amp at 2k rpm. The alternator runs the system when the vehicle (in my case a van) is running. When the amp hits a good bass note it'll cause too much of a demand on the alternator. The battery then kicks in to account for the extra power needed. Once the bass note is done, the alternator then turns around and starts charging the battery. Even with my 16 volt battery bank I am seeing a voltage drop. 14 8 volt 1000amp batteries wired to 16volts should, if my math is correct, be roughly 7000amps. At idle my voltage will drop down to 14.5 volts (not really good for a 16volt system). At 2k rpm, the voltage stays at 15.9 constant. In short, it take power to make power.
