  1. That happens. I backup at the very latest every month. Ive lost too many files from failed drives, windows screwing up and all the random problems that can happen with data. Im not too worried about it like i used to be since i have 3 external drives, 2 of which i do direct backups to and i have two hard drives installed on my laptop, one for the OS and programs and the other for my music, pics, vids, docs and downloads. Since you cant get in and stay in long enough i think your only chance is to rip that hard drive out, put it on a desktop and boot the desktop up then copy the files from her drive to an external hard drive or your desktops hard drive if there is enough room. Note: DO NOT backup anything but the content that is under the directory users\(her name)\ just backup the folders that say favorites, videos, documents, music, pictures, desktop. Everything else leave alone because its pointless to backup as it will not help you out at all in the end.
  2. It sounds like your computer is too far gone to fix easily. If you were close to me id look at it for you and fix it. Virus issues arent that hard to fix most of the time but it takes a good amount of experience with them to know how they work and how to kill them. When you press f8 before windows boots is there an option called "repair your computer"? Usually its the very first option toward the top before it goes into saying safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc. If so there is a slim chance you can get into the command prompt and then type the command to start the combofix program but you HAVE to know the directory its stored under (c:/users/.....) combofix is just a command line utility so you can launch that from just command prompt if needed. If that doesnt work then the easy way out would be to just format the hard drive and start windows fresh. I dont usually recommend doing it but if you are like the 99% of people whose computers i work on and the data is not backed up you could take out the hard drive and install it on another machine to recover your files then wipe windows and start over. Again i dont usually recommend doing this because there is always that chance that the virus is lingering on those files and can unleash itself again. edit: for your warranty they never cover things like this. All that they would do is erase windows and start it from scratch and charge extra if you need the stuff recovered from the hard drive. Thats the easy way out and a ton of companies do it that way. Its too time consuming for big companies to waste time with looking into why a system crashes and fixing viruses than it is to reimage the computer and leave.
  3. Can you boot up into safe mode? If you can id get a program called combofix and run it. Its free and fixes a ton of problems ive had on the computers i work on. Only beef i have about it is that sometimes depending on what it finds it will cause application shortcuts to break and say that they were marked for deletion. The way around that is if you can either make a new user profile on your computer then run combofix on that new account or run combofix and after its all fixed do a system restore back to the latest restore point and its fixed. First id see if its a local profile issue or an entire pc issue. Make a new user account and see if you can run a virus scan on that and if it finds anything. Most stupid viruses/malware out there just do stupid things to your local profile not the whole machine. Let me know what you make of this.
  4. Those connections tend to rock a bit side to side. Finding one that will fit tight and not move around is hard to come by. If you have a multi meter (digital or analog) check the resistance on the tinsel leads (the wires that attach to the rear of the terminals that go to the inner area of the sub where the spider assembly is). Check and tell us the resistance it reads. Then try to do that but with the multi meter connected to the spade terminal on the speaker and wiggle the tinsel leads around one at a time. If you get a reading that changes then you have a loose tinsel connection and may just need to solder the wire back onto the terminal to fix it.
  5. price drop, i want this gone. $600/obo. Now i will include shipping anywhere.
  6. Bump. Shoot me an offer (no low balling) i have no real need for this anymore and it works perfect and is one hell of a carputer.
  7. Looks almost identical to the precision power pc2350 i have. Only big difference is that yours has dual power inputs, mine is just a single input and you have a few less caps than i have in mine and i have the qbass controls to adjust the center frequency more on the amp than yours. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143695-precision-power-pc2350-amp-guts-and-specs/ Still love the old PPI amps.
  8. Hey man, sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. The linksys adapter is not the internet source, it is what allows you to connect to the wifi network in your house or your cell phone if you have wifi-tethering on your cell phone. How you said your wifi-box from verizon, sprint, etc that is what the linksys would connect to (called a wireless router). No need for a server to connect to a wifi network at all. As for a wifi car if you have a cell phone that is a smartphone get wifi-tethering either by rooting your phone and getting it for free or paying your carrier extra and getting it from them if you want internet anywhere you drive to. If you just care about having internet access like me at home to sync your songs between computers then just connecting to your home wireless network will be perfect.
  9. Bump Lets get this gone for $700. I paid over a grand for this plus modified the software to make it run faster than ever.
  10. It is a Xenarc LCD TFT touch screen. Its a really cool touch screen where you can touch it with anything, whether its a capacitive touch pen, normal pen, anything and it will recognize the touch. For the wifi it does not have it built in however i do have a Linksys AE3000 USB wireless n adapter that i can include for another $20. The adapter will connect to wireless a/b/g/n and 2.4 as well as 5GHz networks.
  11. I am selling my carputer with the touchscreen and some accessories i purchased for this. I was planning to take my current headunit and ditch it and move my a/c controls in my dash to fit the touchscreen and run the carputer but its not worth my time or money to do all that work when i really want to spend the money towards moving out of my parents. Anyways enough with that, lets get to the good stuff. The specs of the carputer are as follows: Processor: Intel Atom 330 @ 1.6GHz (dual core with hyper threading) Memory: 2GB DDR2 Video: Intel 82945G onboard video Networking: Gigabit ethernet Hard drives: 64gb Kingston SATA 2 Solid State & 500gb Seagate 7200rpm SATA 2 hard drive OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 Connections: 6 USB 2.0 ports, Serial data connection, Parallel data connection, S-Video out, PS-2 keyboard & mouse, microphone input, headphone output, headphone input, VGA output Other software installed: Google Chrome, iTunes, SyncToy 2.1, Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011, Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, Vista Codec. The accessories i will include with it: 1 USB Bluetooth 3.0 adapter, 1 4 port USB hub, 1 Headphone to RCA adapter, 1 The touchscreen is a 10.2" LCD with RCA and VGA inputs. I am looking to part ways with it for $750 shipped anywhere in the continuous U.S. Here are the pics of it all:
  12. Youre welcome. Also what id do AFTER you determine where your headunit clips at and set the gain on all of the 3sixty outputs and BEFORE you adjust the gains on your amps would be to configure the 3sixty so that it will flatten your eq response to make it sound crystal clear. To do this connect all the outputs of your headunit into the 3sixty, then use the RF 3sixty software and go to file>new install>OEM install. Follow the on screen prompts and keep the outputs on the 3sixty disconnected at all times during this. Once you do that then you can dd-1 the amps with a -5db track and connect everything up to the amps and enjoy your awesome sounding system. Note: just hitting the flatten eq button on each output on the rf software is not what flattening the eq means. What going to the OEM install area will do is adjust every frequency on every input on the 3sixty so that they all have the same level since there is no true "Flat" eq curve for the outputs on a headunit. If you do what i described above and setup the time alingment and set your x-overs with a cc-1 you will love your system.
  13. I put my xs power batteries all on the concrete floor in my basement as well as the blacktop in my driveway and left them there for a month or two before i installed them and had no problems. The only time i ever put them up off the floor was in my garage because it floods so bad back there that i didnt want to have it flood and have the battery make contact with the water and short out and energize the water. Its bad enough when the garage had problems with the ground and would shock the living hell out of you when you plug in the sump pumps to pump out the water in my entire backyard let alone have a battery in there too.
  14. OP: yes thats right. Use a 0db tone on everything but like i said for the amps id just recommend a -5db tone for setting the gain on the amp. Oh and just a reminder keep any bass-boost & loudness turned off and keep it off, also make sure your equalizer is set to 0 or flat on your headunit and keep it that way as well. If you dont do that you will 100% clip your system and blow something. Kylar: thank you. im tired of his control over everything i do and not letting me grow up and do my own things. but pm me if you want, its been forever since we talked or i helped you out lol.
  15. Yes i have the second 3sixty.2 but its not installed. I probably will sell it with my carputer i bought. I am trying hard as hell to move out and be done being with my parents and get my own life so i am selling the stupid crap i have. /end rant lol. And to what you said about the output on the amp, Steve himself pointed out on his video that they are not 100% accurate for distortion or clipping. They are just a reference for beginners.
  16. You have to find where the headunit clips first (use a 0db tone for this), then you connect the 3sixty up and one channel at a time (also using a 0db tone) find where each rca output on the 3sixty clips at and adjust the rca gain on the 3sixty so it is not distorted (note: from what i found the clip lights on the 3sixty are very close to the dd1 so you may find that if you turn up the gain more the dd1 will show distortion however the 3sixty will not show clipping. Just set what the dd1 shows.) Then you will connect your amps up to the 3sixty and adjust the gains on the amps (i personally use -5db tones for my amps. 0 is too soft and -10 ive had problems with so -5 is good for me and most music that is out there today).
  17. The point to having the eq to flat is because then the frequency that the dd-1 reads at (1khz & 40Hz) will not be way higher or boosted compared to the rest of the spectrum. This is why 90% of the people on here that know what they are doing and have no desire to burn up their gear NEVER use bass-boost, loudness or crank up the living hell of their eq settings. To better explain this for you think of it like this... If you set your system with it all flat and the loudness off you will have a pretty flat equalizer response curve. This means that throughout the entire frequency spectrum that your headunit and amp can play they are all at the same level. Now lets turn up the loudness setting on your radio. Loudness will take the low end (usually around 30-60Hz) and boost their responses as well as the high end (usually around 1khz-3000khz) and boost their response as well. The problem with this is that all the frequencies that lie in the middle (lets say 60-1khz) are not boosted and they will not play as loud as the ones that were boosted. If you set your gains with the dd-1 with loudness and all your other crap turned way the hell up which is wrong then it will make the other frequencies that are not boosted get drowned out because the dd-1 will care more about making the specific tone you selected to set the gains with as perfect as it can be. So to end this, set your radio to flat and turn off that loudness. Set your system with the dd-1 and leave all bass-boost settings, loudness to OFF and keep the eq settings flat. Take it from me, i used to love how my system sounded with the loudness up and just a bit of an eq tweak. Then i got the dd-1 and cc-1 and since then i have kept the loudness and eq to flat and i love the response i get in my music because of it.
  18. If i was home where i could show it to you i would upload pics of it for ya. I was originally using the remote knob for my 3sixty.2 with a 10 foot RJ-45 cable (was a cat-5e cable) and it had no issues. I can even take the stock RF cable and hook it up to a computer and my router and get online. Its the same thing for RF and their newer gear, not sure about the model amp that the OP has but their newer stuff that looks like the amps they have now (2005+ iirc) use RJ-45. Rockford Fosgate seems to be the only one i know that has RJ-45. DC audio does NOT have that big of a connector and is like you said, a RJ-11 that simply has more pins on it than the standard 2 or 4 wire phone cables. edit: to see what i mean go to this guys FS post and count the wires that are in the comm port. It has 8 pins just like an ethernet cable and is the same exact size connector opening. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/144645-used-rockford-fosgate-3sixty2-with-palm-tungsten-e2-300-shipping/
  19. Ill be the typical SMD member and see if you can get a picture of the connection on the amp/remote to see what kind of terminal it is. RF amps use RJ-45 (ethernet) cables for their remotes and just a simple straight through ethernet cable (like this: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/APC-Cat5-Patch-Cable-20ft-1-x-RJ-45-1-x-RJ-45-Patch-Cable-Straight-through-Gray/2666324/product.html) would do the job for you. Do NOT go to the store and get a rollover cable as the wires are not wired in sequential order from one end to the next. If you have really good eyes just inspect the two ends of the ethernet cable where the wires are crimped down and ensure that the color code on the wire matches on both ends. They should go orange-white, orange, green-white, blue, blue-white, green, brown-white, brown from one side to the other to make the cable work.
  20. Try going to creditkarma.com. They are a free site to get an idea on where your credit is and ways to improve it and all that. I use them and its a great way to get a general idea where i am and how well i am doing with my credit. I am going to be 21 the end of this week and my only credit i have is from my paypal account. I originally applied for the paypal smart connect and was approved for $300 limit. I used like 200 or so of it up every month and paid it off in full at the end of every month on time. I then was upgraded to a $900 credit limit on there and did the same thing, used a chunk of it for purchases online and paid it off in full when the bill came. Then they approved me for the free credit card reader and a business debit card that i can use anywhere to buy things with and withdraw money on my smart connect credit line from. I got that back in the fall last year and it has been good to me. I had a 666 (lol) for my credit score when i started out and i had applied for a line of credit from Dell when i bought my laptop and was denied and by them doing a hard credit check it dropped me down to 640 but once i was approved on my paypal it went up to 670 and now im at 688. It takes time to get credit going and dont expect to apply for any credit cards or stuff like that and be approved or get approved with a super high and ridiculous credit limit. Just do like everyone else on here said, start out small and use it for things like gas or other small purchases and pay it off as soon as you can. Delaying your payments, paying the minimum required balance, making late payments, using up like more than 70% of your credit limit and all that stuff can harm your credit. They have all the tips on credit karma to get your score up and how to make it better. edit: if you have no credit that is way worse than bad credit and is way harder to try and establish credit. What you may want to think of doing would be to go to your bank or a credit union and see if you can get like a student line of credit or something like that. Like a credit card for people just starting out and see if you can get someone to co-sign on with you that has good credit. Having them co-sign will drop their score down a bit but it will usually get you approved to start building your credit.
  21. That sounds like the problem i had with my dell xps l702x laptop i bought late last year. Nvidia saw that my driver needed updates but when i tried to install them it noticed the OS was an OEM OS build. When i reimaged my computer to a custom version of windows 7 (windows 7 game rebel edition) i had no problems updating the graphics card. Now when you say the software isnt genuine do you mean that windows is not genuine? If so theres a easy way you can get around that and since im pretty sure its not something i should share openly on the forum just PM me about it. If getting windows activated properly (shouldnt affect installing the driver either way) doesnt work then what id do is verify the model of your graphics card by going back into device manager, right click on the display adapter then click on properties. Go to the details tab and then in the drop down menu select "hardware ids" and provide me with the ones listed in that box or just do a quick google search of them. That is the sure fire way to figure out that model graphics card you have installed. Also for what ive experienced is that connecting the monitor output to the onboard output will automatically shut down the external (pci) graphics card you have installed. Disconnect everything from the onboard graphics card (hdmi, dvi, vga, etc) and connect it to just the external video card you have on the pci slot. Let me know if by doing this you can see the bios screen and windows booting up because if you do then thats a step in the right direction.
  22. Okay. First off let me say i know i was in the wrong so im not coming on here to try and say what i did was not bad, i admit what i did was wrong but hear me out. I just left my house and literally a block away the cop heard my music (i had my sub turned down as far as it goes but it had a slight bump to it, not enough to feel though) and my mids+highs were up 1/2 way and i had my two front windows down to cool down my truck while the a/c was on. I saw the cop and turned down my music but he stared me down and let me go half a block before pulling up behind me and pulling me over. I was nice the whole time and just accepted what i did but he didnt give me a ticket. The cop instead gave me a summons for court. On the summons it says "city ordinance 26-109 (5) unreasonable noise stereo" and i have to appear to court next friday. My question is will this be a moving violation because i was driving when i got pulled over for it? Will i have any points on my licence for this or is it mainly like a parking ticket? How can i possibly fight this in court without being a d-bag because it was just my mids and highs with a very slight bit of bass to it. I was by no means slamming my system full tilt when he looked at me. The ticket i got was in Tonawanda, New York.
  23. Its funny someone brings that up on here, i thought about this months ago when i got in my dads tow truck and he put on the PTO. Id love to see if this could be done but it would probably cost more for a PTO unit than an adjustable throttle knob that is out on the market where you manually crank it to open your throttle body to rev the engine up.
  24. It is a 1 ohm load 100%. Think of it like this. If you have one subwoofer lets say a dual 2 ohm coil setup. When you wire it in parallel like you did it will be at 1/2 the impedance of ONE coil reading (going from 2 ohms for one coil to a 1 ohm reading with both coils) Now if you wire it in series you will double the resistance and go from 2 ohms per coil to 4 ohms with both coils. Think of it like this: For a single sub you will take 1/2 the original impedance you have for ONE individual coil when you wire it in parallel. You will double that original impedance for ONE individual coil when you wire the sub in series.
  25. Just wanted to let everyone know i bought a used Olympus Evolt E510 camera with 2 lenses, 2 batteries, charger, camera body, ultraviolet filter, bag, everything. It took a little while to get it shipped but he was busy so im perfectly fine with that and he kept me well informed of what was going on the whole time so it wasnt any time where he wasnt informing me what was going on. Very fast payment through paypal and excellent condition for a used camera. Just needs to have a thorough clean up and the one cover for the memory card slot needs to be tightened up but thats not a problem for me. Great seller and great product. I would totally recommend people to buy from him. Thank you for the awesome DSLR camera!!!!
