what subs
cqtama replied to HotRodHam's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
depends if your wired series yes. or you could be wired in parallel to 16 ohms are you using a 2 chanel amp or mono blcok? EDIT: im not saying any of this is a good idea. you should never mix subs and i stick by my original suggestion -

oh boy you have lots to learn on here. buy a matching sub for one of those. build a decent box and don't over power/clip the shit out of them and blow them again. and as far as dougee goes if he wires the D4 up to 8 then he can wire the 2 8's back down to 4 i suppose but i don't see how he could get 8 ohms out of that. idk EDIT: yea just re-read the op most of what you described is impossible i'd like to know how this stuff is wired -

depends what your weak link is i don't know what amp your running, but if i were you i would look for either an mtx or pioneer to match the one you already have and sell the other 3 subs to pay for the one your replacing them with. -
what subs

well the subs are all the same size. i would say more like putting all the same size rims on a car but slightly different size tires on each rim. -

every single one of those subs has different specs, (dif. rms power handling, excursion, ts specs, fs) its all different so even if you matched them up to the same ohm load and the impedance was perfect something else would be off. you're going to have phasing issues and power handling issues and something is gunna give weather it be one of your subs or your amp. just trust us. you don't mix subs. -

don't mix subs you'd be better off just picking one of those and using a single sub. you're gunna break stuff.. -
hiding crossover question for the ballers on here

you should have plenty of room to run the wires through the door boot. i have 6 speakers in each door and my x-overs are hidden under the seats -
rusty, noobtastic, or thor?

Should Thor Move?
cqtama replied to thorshammer's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
depends, would you stay the east coast rep for dc? i rather see you move closer to NY so i can get a demo -
with a motor that looks like that i would recommend inverting them if possible. 2 reasons, save a shit ton of air space, and it looks cool as hell

You can use a computer or if you have a video hu I believe you can do it on there. I know Meade has a video on YouTube adjusting the hoe

Amplifier Problem
cqtama replied to Chamois's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
no heat sets off protect mode. and clipping causes heat and voltage drop witch also sets off protect mode edit actually voltage drop causes clipping but you get the idea -
Amplifier Problem
cqtama replied to Chamois's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
clipping? how are your gains set because if you clip your amp it will eventually send it into protect mode and cause your sub to burn up before that happens. is your amp getting hot too? -
crescendo audio 3kwp, does over 3k at one ohm and over 4k at a half ohm and its warrantied all the way down to a half ohm. i believe they're on backorder though EDIT: i picked mine up for $550 brand new its the exact same amp as a sundown 3000 but its gold

Electrical
cqtama replied to RedJay's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
do the big 3 first, about $30-$40 dc power alternator around $500 the biggest powermaster battery you can fit under the hood about $300. you should be good with that. if you still have voltage drop you should look into a second battery in the back but that should be more than enough -
lvl4 with lvl5 coil options
cqtama replied to jake1993's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
genius! well put, i am now using the retard factor as a rule of car audio. ohms law, spl, impedance rise, and retard factor -
on that electrical i wouldn't run more than 1000, maybe 1200 watts with NO PROBLEM. any voltage drop below 12 volts is a problem, so for everyone saying no problem you might want to check that. i don't see stock electrical in any car supporting 1800 watts without serious drops and clipping the shit out of the amp. also yes kirill is right, different amps have different efficiencies and even the same smp run at different ohm loads has a different efficiency so you need to take that into account as well.

Check out what a buddy made
cqtama replied to WCA Rusty's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
thats awesome. you should use that for the beginning of a video for team dc or something. then you can have a bunch of clips from thor and p and noob. -
