  1. yep, looks like it
  2. ill do it! lol. the tin is just a coating to protect the terminal from corroding. the lug is still all made of copper.
  3. just because you have noise and a pioneer HU doesn't mean the two are related. just the fact that you have noise in one set of RCAs and not the others tells me that this has nothing to do with the pico fuse and grounding the RCA would do nothing. as you discovered. unplug the RCAs at the amp and see if you still get noise. if you do, it cant possibly be the HU or RCAs. if the noise is gone, then plug the RCAs back in and unplug them at the HU. if noise returns, its a bad RCA.
  4. there is a thread for funny craigslist adds. whats funny is how you are all looking at the motor when all you need to see is where he says it weighs 35lbs. the old BTLs were around 50lbs.
  5. where do you get a 5" round port? they usually all come in 3", 4", 6", and 8"
  6. dont use silicone and caulk. you need something with strength. do a google search for an adhesive that bonds metal and glass. panel bond might do it. be sure you dont glue to the tint. just cut it away to expose the glass.
  7. ive ran 8awg out of the box through a small hole for a while now. i only use bolts if I need to change ohm loads around.
  8. first of all, does it sound like im a computer wizard? lol i was told it was one of the best computers i could get in my budget of $600
  9. not a chance. i only got this one a little over a year ago. its not time to get a new one.
  10. hmm... very interesting. Thank you very much maxim. I've been waiting 3 years for this game to finally be released and seeing that my computer might not be able to run the game had me a little upset lol. Sounds like it will be worth giving a shot.
  11. correct, no upgrades possible. so the video card cant just tap into RAM for extra memory?
  12. Diablo 3 is about to come out and my laptop pc meets all the min requirements except for memory on the graphics card. will the computer just use available RAM to cover the difference? will the game still run alright? is there any way to overcome this? i have 128mb. min is 256mb. recommended is 512mb.
  13. Thought about that. But i'd have to use some of that shippers packing tape with the fiber inside it to seal the seams huh. I am thinking im going to use birch plywood. thank yall for the input. plus I hate having to pre drill all my holes. you still have to predrill. all wood can split.
  14. is this going to be a 5000w amp or a clamped 5000w?
  15. thats actually sort of incorrect. your alt does everything until your demand is higher than your supply. once that happens, your voltage drops. it keeps dropping until you get to a voltage where your batteries start to help out. there are milliseconds between when the demand hits and the alt can react and the battery does buffer that. by your math, he has enough alt to keep voltage up. voltage drop does seem a little high for that power but not anywhere close to a dangerous level so its nothing to worry about.
  16. not a sore subject lol. we just all know him personally and the jokes come easy.
  17. they both have up sides and down sides. for the plywood, you want hardwood, like birch, and as many plys as you can find.
  18. i would just set the table saw at 1/8" deep. put the fence rite next to the blade. put your side pieces through the saw. now each end will have that channel when you put the box together. no inserts, no extra cutting, no extra seams that could be leaks or failures.
  19. look up and learn how to use, torres box calculator. it'll do everything for you.
  20. i thought it was smoke before fire? man i got cheated out of going first. haha, yep. smoke comes first. but ya... smoke is a very bad thing to come off a speaker lol.
  21. it wont change tuning. the contours may affect output but its not enough that i think you should worry about it.
  22. iraggi screwed over a lot of people not too long ago. he was known for picking up a junkyard alt, upgrading the windings, and selling it to you as a brand new product. many alts didnt do what they were rated to do. many alts broke. many alts didnt fit the car they were bought for. he did pick up his customer service for about 6 months and a lot of people really liked him. i never trusted him though and eventually he went back to his old ways, except worse. sold all these shit alts then disappeared. never buy an iraggi alt. i would stick to the 3 main brands you see suggested here. DC power, mechman, singer. singer is the newest company and the least tested but seems to be liked by his customers. DC has military contracts and makes some seriously bad ass alts. they will cost you though. they do have cheaper models too.
  23. Yep, except you'd have more cone area since youre effectively using the power. my point was just that the extra power a resistor would eat up would offset the benefit of wiring to 1ohm instead of 2ohm. the subwoofer would get the same amount of power either way.
  24. you could find a .5ohm resistor that could take the power of your amp. but then you lose all the power you gained from going below the 2ohm you could have just wired it to in the first place. adding this resistor would be just like adding a speaker and consume all that power.
