  1. that is correct, considering they own the patent on "the Pipe Organ"...as we discovered later. good thing we didn't bring it to market
  2. Ken, when I see you next week (yes, next week is confirmed) bring it with you...I want to jump it off something
  3. we experimented with multiple ports at different lengths. NO it will not average. The point of the experiment was to determine if we could tune the enclosure to multiple frequencies. We called it the Pipe Organ. We found that we could tune to 1/4 harmonics but no more than 2 frequencies. It helped prevent huge spikes in resonance, and acted more like a bandpass, but with a slight dip in the middle. It sounded like ass though. it's better to make a widely tuned box with a flatter response than to try to make neato looking things
  4. Ed is not involved with said proceedings. Ed is a very talented tech, engineer and designer. I am certain he will have no issues landing on his feet.
  5. I haven't been with T3 since April. Considering some news I got today I'm not sure it will be around at all. Due to some legal proceedings I am not involved with, but not at liberty to discuss, I'm thinking he'll be gone for a while.
  6. what is this "overkill" of which you speak?
  7. tin the wire...meaning, solder the wire so it's like a solid slug instead of lots of strands. This will keep it from spreading in the terminal. I do this to all my wires anyway.
  8. ID is owned, in whole, by Powerbass owner, jason liu. he doesn't give a shit about quality, he cares about money. he will sacrifice quality without thinking twice if he can save a couple cents on a product. I weep for what Image has become
  9. subs share the air outside the enclosure...they certainly won't notice if they share the air inside the enclosure
  10. Eric Stevens left the company...it is now nothing more than a division of Powerbass
  11. considering all the RCA's are grounded to the same place inside the radio you really only need to do one of them...HOWEVER: this can sometimes make your problem worse. run a16 gauge wire between the HU, pre-amp and amplifier...connect to each chassis at a screw and on the amp at the ground. This gets rid of MOST noise
  12. I only showed up at the end...I gave blood that morning, went home to get my wife and fell asleep until one. If the goddamned Fresno guys had showed up it would have been better, but it was a decent turnout. Thanks to the Severed Ties crew for hosting the event. Thanks to Jeffrey, once again, for officiating the event.
  13. to remove moisture use 92% isopropyl alcohol, swish it around inside and pour it out.
  14. I would rather hang a more accurate grouping. 5 in the heart, 5 in the face...
  15. I will buy tools from Harbor Freight if I need a special tool ONCE OR TWICE. if I need to keep using it, or it's a big purchase I'll go to Home Depot or something (SnapOn is preferable, but fuck, man...that's expensive). Home Depot sells Lincoln Welders starting at about $150
  16. the lights in that cluster are incandescent bulbs you can replace. crack it open (actually it's about 16 torx screws) and see what kind you need. If it's a faulty circuit then start at the fuse and work your way forward.
  17. the protection circuit cannot prevent failed components. All it does is protect against heat and low impedance. some I trust more than others...these I trust
  18. the protection circuit on those amps has an outstanding track record
  19. you will not burn your amp. wiring to 1.33-ohms will be safe.
  20. They are stable to 2-ohms...period. below that they become unstable and protect. the signal they see is the signal they see...If you have your subs wired to 0.003-ohm and with the enclosure and vehicle they never drop below 2-ohms you'll be fine
  21. what are his chances of recovery? sorry to hear this. My mother-in-law went through this a few years ago...took her about a month to regain body control. she's mostly normal now, but has he moments.
