i used kilz original primer on my box. its pretty thick and didnt soak in very much. i have 4 layers of primer and 2 of paint. fill your screw holes too, it makes a huge difference in the end product

only shitty part of explorers is delivering the power. you can only fit 1 alt easily. 2 if you replace the ac compressor, and ive seen 3 but they had a small batt and it was moved. 01 is very similar to mine. just a little more depth. you can get another 1.5-2" if you remove the headliner and wall it (i have 36" height in front,and 33 in the rear). so with the 40.5 width, and some added height, maybe 4 18s walled.....

4 dual 4s so youre either getting all 4 at a 2 ohm load. or two amps on a 1 ohm load each

ya older cadillacs are notorious for this. the no pass thru really kills it. but some minor mods and youre all good.
