Find some jbl gti's 608 or 508 on ebay : killer midbass, may fit your budget, and great audio brand.

Simple and efficient. But ask here, or calculate port length right ! Use your 2 JL for one 15". Sell the other(s?). Or sell them and get another amp (Audioque, DC, Crescendo, Sundown, RF,...). You could make some good money on these JLs, and get a 2000-2500 watts amp.

How many subs ?

The bigger, the better ! I prefer the slot ported box, if you have room for that in your car. Why do you want to tune so high ? Do you compete ?

You can still ground the rca's; it will reduce the bad noise a lot. But it may not be enough for you ! I had this pico fuse problem on my prs 88, and did not find replacement fuse; no more warranty. I found someone who just replace the blown pico fuse with a piece of wire with a small resistance (or something like that, I am not an electronic guy !!!). No more noise at all, and my h u was like new. I have it for 3 years now. You don't need any line driver. Just set the gain right on your amps.

Get them if they fit your budget, but spend the money on a good custom box you'll use with better woofers in the future. At least, you will already have a box. SVC, DVC, or QVC : that don't really matter ! As long as you can wire the subs to the load you and the amp need, it's good !

Australia is far away, but ask some sellers here, or take a look at some ebay stores too (audisavings for example). It may be interesting to order from the USA. Include shipping costs AND custom taxes in your total cost., and then compare to what you have locally. There are lots of companies flying from the USA to AUstralia, so shipping may not be too expensive. It may be cheaper than shipping to my little island in the Caribbeeans !!! Try to find Californian sellers / shops : they're closer to you ! Shop for your mids & highs speakers locally, and try to get the sub and amps from the USA. You need just one sub. Good luck !

Don't change the wires for the big 3. Just add new wires. If you like the "numbers move" get a voltmeter and install it inside the cabin. Maybe you can take the one on your cap and get it in the cabin. 4 ga may be enough if you're not running big power.

Your subs won't suffer when being "underpowered" !! When you're listening at low volume, they have no problems, right ?! So, they don't need full power to be safe !!! don't worry !

I've heared a lot of "good things" on the RE XXX. For the Soundstream XXX it's not the same thing ! Build a badass box for your 15's, and if you need to upgrade, get 2 new subs after some listenings with the new box.

Can you sell your subs ? If you think it will not be easy, just start to focus on the box. what kind of box do you have ? A good one can make your bass sound goooood !

try to trade that amp to get a smaller one. That can let you with some cash left or some more equipment(deadener for example !). DC xl is rated for 2000 w rms IIRC. Don't be too hard on it !

I'm sure you can find something for your sub. Did you try to contact DC power, Mechman,... I don't know what upgrades you want, but you don't need a huge alt to upgrade something !!! Maybe new batteries? How do you like those 608 gti ? I have never heared them, and their price is starting to go down. What did you have before this instal , to compare with ? (Get rid of that cap and sell it when you can, it does nothing good to your electrical). Have you done the big 3 yet ? that will help !
