Some people just love getting loud down LOW. Everyone likes different ranges of low notes. I personally love the 20-28Hz range, and will be tuned low so I can play it well. Just look at Iceman's van, that thing is tuned to about 22Hz and it's an insane low end monster, some people just find that appealing. Oh yeah, it also allows you to move more air easier, meaning better hairtricks.

I'd suggest getting a High output alternator first then, something like 180-220 amps. You might be able to find one around $200-$250 depending on the car you drive. Remember, batteries don't recharge themselves.

D3400 would be fine. My friend runs a 190 amp alternator and a single D3400 on his AQ2200 and it is fine, voltage in the mid to low 13s all day.

You can get an XS D3400 for less than that marine battery on summitracing.com And plenty of other nice batteries for less too, like Stinger, Deka, Shuriken, Kinetik, Powermaster, Northstar, etc.

Well... 8 12s would need a little less air space, by about 2 cubes or so, and have more cone area. However it could be cheaper to get 3 BTLs than 8 Chaos, but I'm not sure as I don't know AA pricing. As far as motor force to cone area, it probably comes out pretty close. Here's one thing to consider: If you order the three BTLs with D1.4 ohm coils you can wire the subs to .93 ohms, and to 2.1 ohms, meaning that you can safely use 1 amp wired to about 1 ohm, or strap two amps at 2 ohms without having to modify anything except for wiring. That's something you can't do with the 8 12s.

I know how you can do it. Simply build a middle port box, like so: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w36/tha_ostrich/34cubes34Hz212s.jpg but when you are done either cut the box in half down the port and secure a new outer wall onto the port without gluing it, then remove the temporary wall and glue the box back together when done. Or slide a divider piece down the middle of the port, allowing your one chamber to have half the port opening to it self, and pull that piece out when you get the second one. Or, if need be, build it so it would have 2 independent ports. And I do free designs, you can PM me if you want.

I looked up the price of aeroport and pvc 6", both are our of the question. So I am back to trying to figure out a slot port for the design. The outer dimensions are 17x23x16, and its .75" wood. If PVC is too expensive, look into sono tubes or concrete formers. You can usually get those pretty cheap if you wanted to go with a round port.

A single six inch (inside diameter) round port should work for a round port, otherwise I'd try about 32-40 square inches of slot. Probably shooting for right at 2 cubes net. Just an off the top of my head estimate anyway.

That's actually about 12.6 square inches of port area. Definitely not enough. I had a couple of JBL subs before, and built a box to manufacturer's specs and was less than satisfied. I went with a slot port giving it 18 per cube and it was way better. What size sub though? and how much power?

Are those your maximum dimensions? If so, you have nowhere near enough room to make a proper box for an 18. You might be able to get a 15 in a decent box in that space, but not an 18.
