  1. A shifted motor is covered -- use the RMA form on our site : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/return-authorization-form.html Put "NA" in fields that don't apply to you.
  2. Try WoofersEtc.com -- they get good SH deals due to volume.
  3. I am already working on a few revisions for prototype round #2 -- now that I have a base point to see how much the BL varies compared to FEA I can dial it in some more. I also have to be very careful not to break the cost goals as I am very set on selling them for the $60-70 range. It's quite the challenge trying to squeeze out the performance I want in this price restriction -- but so far pretty fun !
  4. I started talking about doing this line back in November on Facebook then on CACO. I decided to take it all the way to the prototype phase -- this is what I came up with so far. We are talking $60-70 MAP on these from a dealer ----- Here are some initial photos of the FIRST rough prototypes. I am essentially testing for ruggedness and for the soft parts and coil being what I want first. The motor will likely increase in OD a bit if I can't get Qts down with other methods but I started small to ensure we aren't wasting any costs on making it too large off the bat. Had to get a feel for what % I would be off compared to FEA to go from there. If we go to production the frame itself will have the vents removed -- for the prototypes they are plugged. The finish of the motor will also be a bit nicer but not to the point to increase cost to the end-user. The look from the front is pretty well final. The motor is alot deeper than most in this class to support some legit levels of excursion as well. 10" Model : ----- 12" Model : ---------- And finally... the video I took this morning of the 10" prototype : The 12s were separated in transit but I should have them soon. This level of excursion is not something you will find on most drivers in this category. We are looking at ~1.6-1.75" peak to peak or so in the video at the highest level (1.25" p-p is linear). There is 2" p-p before coil bottom -- I haven't gotten brave enough yet to push it past where I did in the video as we were getting a bit of mechanical noise at that level. It's still a new prototype and I'm enjoying it a bit before possibly tearing it up =) I think we are REALLY close with this sample... Qts is a bit high for what I normally like to see but I want to do some real listening tests before making a call on that one way or the other.
  5. We have had people use our 12" and 15" cones on Ti frames -- I am not sure if any rigging had to be done... but they did it. The 18" cone is designed to sit ~15mm above the top landing on the 6-spoke to fit our spaced up 10" spider. The 10" cone will ONLY work on our frame, period.
  6. 1) Check the tinsel leads -- are they burnt ? 2) If not; check the continuity of the terminals -- VERY rare but I've been scratching my head before and found out the terminal itself broke internally. You would do this by putting the DMM lead in the terminal like a speaker wire and putting the other lead of the DMM on the tinsel leads. 3) If none of these things -- check all mechanical aspects of the driver to make sure nothing is loose. I really doubt any thermal issue is possible based on your signature amplifier but if something is loose it could make the coil rock and break a winding physically. 4) If you are unsuccessful in troubleshooting visit our web-site and fill out and RMA form so we can take a look : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/return-authorization-form.html
  7. Haha. That is one I saved -- Samuel Adams "New World" Tripel Ale. It was pretty epic =)
  8. Just got the new batch of the SD-2 8s in on our container this morning. Very pleased with how they turned out. The revisions are purely cosmetic and have no impact on end-user prices. * Motor is now Chrome * * Added fitted magnet boot *
  9. The first two links on Google are valid for the x-max -- but a quick link : http://www.sundownaudio.com/pdfs/SA_Series_Manual%2810-12-15%29.pdf Or also the published Klippel on the SA-12 (same motor and coil on SA-10/12/15) : http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/BL_CURVE/Klippel/SA-12_D2_SR.jpg
  10. Not it will not -- the under-side is a flat diaphragm that is stamped. The cap covers all of that and re-enforces the edges.
  11. How many watts was going thru it in the vid? I didn't clamp at all -- just turned up our test bench 3500D on there until it ran out of steam. But likely in excess of 300-watts -- as it has passed a 12-hour life test at 300-watts at the build house with no issues.
  12. Could have sworn I posted this around -- maybe I missed it here; but here is the FR graph : So they do play pretty high.
  13. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/172851-neopro-v2-information/ Info in there
  14. We made a slight "Rev.2" notation on the shipping boxes due to changing the motor finish to Chrome -- it is nothing major other than cosmetic. No price changes, no significant spec changes -- just a chrome finish.
  15. Production is about to begin I will post ETA information and the pre-order once I have that.
  16. I don't get what you mean ? All of the specs including the Fs, Qts, VAS are all listed ?
  17. We currently have more staff than ever answering inquiries so if you have a PROBLEM reaching us please read the above and it will help. Also read the below : Most of the time I discover with missed calls they are made outside of our hours. Lunch time seems to be the most common issue. Leave a message OR preferably send [email protected] a follow-up e-mail to return your call. Most of the time with problem e-mails I find that the customer has a spam filter or other filter blocking our replies. If sent via the "Contact Us" form I see alot of return addresses misspelled. This has happened countless times so PLEASE check your filters. E-Mail problems can happen the OTHER way around as well -- if you don't hear anything from us via e-mail for a long time CALL THE SHOP with your inquiry. This means we did not get your e-mail for some reason (spam filters, accident deletion, etc) -- it does NOT mean we are ignoring your message.
  18. I have UPDATED this post on 11/2/13 : To ensure that contact is organized and prompt please read the following : We are open Monday through Friday. Our hours are 8 AM to 5 PM EASTERN Time -- we are CLOSED for lunch at approximately 12-1:00 every day; lunch time frame care vary +/- 30 minutes depending on what is going on that day. DO NOT post on Facebook or the Forums to request order status, warranty information, or pricing. It is VERY difficult to know who you are or what you ordered this way. Forums and Facebook are designed to share new product information, customer installs, updates, etc and are not optimal for the aforementioned things. On our OFFICIAL Facebook and forum names we DO NOT use any form of PMs -- these are too easily over-looked. MAKE SURE you provide your REAL NAME and a SUBJECT LINE in the e-mail -- if you are asking about an order make sure to tell us the name and e-mail on the Paypal payment as they very often do not match. For order status and tracking : [email protected] For basic pricing (including stock drop-ins) : [email protected] For odd-ball stuff (custom re-cones / parts) : [email protected] (be patient, my box gets bombarded - I may forward messages to other staff if they can answer) For dealer inquiries : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/dealer-inquiry.html If you have a question about the form : [email protected] For warranty : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/return-authorization-form.html For general information / tech questions : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/contact.html or [email protected] For Team Sundown Inquiries : [email protected] If you cannot reach us electronically or are having an issue with the electronic methods you can call. It is preferred to use electronic contact so there is a written record for future reference. If you do call; DO NOT call us 100 times in a row if you don't get an answer the first time -- leave a message and/or wait 10-15 minutes and try again. Someone is not beside the phone 100% of the time but someone is there most of the time. We do not have an entire call center so be patient; if everyone is already ON the phone we can't answer. Again -- it is preferable to use the above electronic contact before calling. Calling opens up significant room for errors and leaves no record of the conversation. ALSO remember our hours; if you call when we aren't there we cannot answer... please leave a message !!! 828-459-1980
  19. Thanks for noticing We started using that piece on the SA series back in 2009 -- it is both an air-flow director and a shorting ring as it's made from aluminum. We started implementing it on pretty much all of our higher powered drivers since introducing it on the SA series. The pole piece is also greatly extended on all of the new motors so the coil isn't damaged when it leaves the physical gap -- as was mentioned earlier; the new suspension won't hold the coil back from moving beyond the physical gap.
