  1. If you exceed the rail voltage you will smoke the transform or the fets or both. Most amps have a protection that won't allow voltage great then 18 volts, so the amp won't even power up. This is one of those questions like I wonder what would happen if i put a fork in the wall socket and stick my foot into a bucket of water at the same time. If you don't understand it, don't do it.
  2. Let me know how you like the aq4x90 amps, I am about to do the same in the spring. For sure. Im only switching over since I'm swapping out my T4000s for the AQ3500s and I like having matching amps but now I'm actually excited. Maybe while there's no bass ill swap out one and run one pair and let you know how they fare. You will like the 3500's, I like mine alot. I will be adding two more of those as well.

  4. 2 component sets, doors, keep them equal, NO, NO. There answered all your questions.
  5. If one is hitting harder then the other all the time at every volume range and freq range of bass, you have a coil issue, one sub is not getting full power or wired wrong.
  6. It is hard to say well you need XX amount of mids/high when I have no idea what your setup sounds like now, and that goes for anyone that responds, you are gonna get a bunch of different answers. Best advice I can give, start with one set per door, if not loud enough keep adding until it is. There is just to many options to this question you asked. And I have no idea what your idea is for the amount of money you want to drop on all this. Just run a 4 channel amp on some components to start, running amps on highs or mids independently is something I don't think you will need to do with just 2 18's.
  7. Who gives a shit, it is a damn alt harness....LOL, no seriously, you probably did, get some free shit out of it.
  8. Going from 150 to 155 to 160, 160 feels like your face is getting ripped off....LOL. And if you sit on the passenger side of my wall and put your head up by the windshield your teeth will chatter so violently you can't keep your mouth shut. If you are used to it, it isn't loud enough, I guess, cuz at some point you actually get sick of it to some extent cuz it is painful, it is no longer enjoyable. I know that if I have a laptop in my truck at 155 and up the screen ripples with the bass....haha. And what you think you are doing compared to what numbers you are actually do are gonna be way different, unless you have had alot of setup's at different freq's and will be able to pick up the difference. Also in mine during testing we did normal daily power testing, I sat in the driver seat, did about 4 dozen burps and then dropped ohm load and went full power, my buddy that was testing with me, said, "come look at the score", I said back, "I don't need too, it is 3 db louder right?", he said, "yeah, how did you know", I said, "I couldn't breath, and the wiperblades where bouncing off the glass a few inches."
  9. If they where giving away like 4 sets, that would spark my interest...LOL
  10. I got one I want to do, but I am not the best with photoshop skills. So we will see, and for just components,,,,ehhhh, come on aq give away an amp!!!!
  11. I believe the material is what is important along with thickness
  12. Good to know I have always used dynamat extreme so time to try ss thx
  13. If you have good equipment it makes no difference how cold it is heat is the enemy not cold.
  14. If it had ice on it and it melted and got the board wet it is possible.
  15. ^^^^yup voltage is where it is at if the amp is unregulated if it is a regulated amp then it won't help.
  16. Sweet man get a clamp so I can get an idea what it does at 16 volts if you could keep voltage up. I am about to clamp mine again and have some more numbers to post.
  17. Yup we ran a zx1000 at 1 ohm an clamped 982 watts out of it at ~13 volts and it is 2 ohm stable we were rising to like 1.8 ohm I believe.
  18. So at what voltage were you clamping that out of them and on 14 volt system not 12 right? oh yea moar power is to come...and i haven't clamped it yet at 1 ohm (due to a lack of a clamp) but at 1.4 ohm strapped i got ~6600 watts with a 4.9x ohm rise
  19. I can also speak for running there hdc3s they can take alot of power and still hit down low. They are a great spl sub not the best on sq but still great just depends on what u are looking for.
  20. To keep voltage up, VCM or MLA, depending on your setup. And also depending on some setups it isn't even needed....LOL Being able to spin the alternator fast enough to sustain XX amount of current and if demand is XX. That is what maintains voltage above 14 on a 12 volt charging system. So it comes down to the what 1500 wrms amp you are talking about. Is it pulling 110 -120 amps, if so then you will just need about 180-200 amp alt depending on vehicle. Need more info for exacts.
  21. It daily rise is just as important, if you are rising to like 8 ohms from 1 ohm, are you gonna be dropping as much voltage? That is my point.
