  1. It's smaller than spec... But how would an sp4 18 do in a 5.75 cube ported box? Would be running ~3500w to it. So I was thinking it would be fine? Or would my space be better suited for a 15?
  2. Ignoring the specs on Fi's website: does anyone know the smallest size ported box an sp4 18 can play well in on about 3.5k?

  7. How can I check the wires without getting new ones? Multimeter or something? I'll check the coils too this weekend.
  8. Vehicle is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) with the 4.0L inline 6, 5 speed manual. Has 47k on it, bought it used at 39k. There are 2 issues (not sure if related) 1. There is a vibration that seems to change in accordance with engine speed if I floor it - kind of like something is off balance. Figured it was something with the flywheel(warped?) (prev owners couldn't drive manual for their life) since the clutch began to slip at 45k. So got a new clutch + flywheel + crankshaft positioning sensor. But the problem still persists. I was thinking bad plug / wires? But some friends told me that if it was: it would seem like the engine was dieing and not just a vibration. And problem 2: It almost seems like it has a vacuum leak: if I bring the revs up to say... 2k, then shift - they go down to about 1600, then pause, then go down to 1200 (the proper speed to let out the clutch). Not really sure what this could be either since it idles perfect and spraying carb cleaner around all post-vacuum gaskets didn't change the idle speed.

  11. I don't see an issue. It won't even be seeing a load that low most of the time after box rise. Just make sure you have good electrical so you don't fry the mosfets.

  13. Theft deterrant idea: Screw in subs / amp with security t-nut bolts, then fill the head with something like high-temp hot glue. Then to remove them, pull out the heat gun.

      use square, star, flat head, phillips, and hex screws all in one sub. even if he has all the tools itll take so long he will likely leave it/break it lol.

  14. Are you talking about the itty bitty half inch long pieces of wire that come form the voice coil and the tinsels are soldered on to?
  15. Yeah, the coil was rubbing slightly and someone threw their backpack in the trunk making the hole you see in the cone.
  16. I think I'm starting to get it now. Regardless of crossover slope, all butterworth filters are -3db at their xover point - which is what the dd-1 was designed for? I thought that they used either Linkwitz or butterworth filters - but most use butterworth? - I think this was my 'missing link' Thanks for clearing this up. I'm ALWAYS learing something new

Lets see if I can explain my thoughts better You set the reference frequency, then adjust the crossover until the cc-1 registers a -3db drop in voltage - the crossover point of a 12db/octave crossover Now if you repeat the same procedure on a 24db/octave crossover where the crossover point is -6db, but the cc-1 is looking for -3db and not -6db -- wouldn't that create an inaccuracy?

  19. Watching youtube, found this video If the cc-1's internals are set to that it looks for -3db, then by definition that is a 12 db/octave butterworth filter it was designed to work for. Now, since TONS of amps today use 24db/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossovers(including the one in the video I believe) - which are attenuated by -6db at their crossover point - this would mean that the cc-1s accuracy goes out the window since it would be off by an 8th of an octave right?
