  1. IMHO I would add a four channel since you already have a decent mono. If you have your hart set on a 5 channel I would probably look in to something like the new Rockford P1000x5d it a little more power than what you are looking for but being a punch line you know it will be a solid performer. I run a zapco 7 channel I am happy with it but already in the planning/saving stages of a separate amp set up. Either way you are going to have to spend money just how do you want to spend it. Buying a solid 4 channel might give you more option if you decide to change out your sub and go bigger in the future where as if you have a 5 channel you are stuck with only one amp and have to start over.
  2. not exactly a bass version but the original version of the song from the album "Hooked" released on Ichiban records seemed to hit harder than the version that appeared on "to the extreme' from sbk records. It was similar but maybe a little more like a dance hall track on the original album. My older brother had the original "Hooked" album and it was stolen, it hit like hell in his truck circa 1989-90. He then bought the mainstream album "to the extreme" it seemed that it had the bass line dramatically reduced. So try to find a copy of the original "Hooked" album then if that is not enough have someone work it to increase the bass line. I know this did not answer your question but might head you in the right direction for a proper version of the song.
  3. I personally love my Grado Headphones. I have had a pair of the SR80 for quite a while. They have a great dynamic range. Not bass heavy but blended properly but when using an eq to boost low end they have no problem coming in. They are built much better than the bose in my opinion but the on ear design can produce fatigue after extended time of wearing. The 80's run around 100 bucks. I would say Senheiser Grado or the higher end audio technica would all be great. In the 300 range you can pick up the grado SR325is I had no need for them but they are damn accurate on reproduction. Out of the ones I have heard I like my Grados the best just my .02.
  4. TN's law on audio is if it can be heard from 50 ft away. It does not matter if it is a factory radio distorting or a high end aftermarket. So it is a subjective law with no official db rating. Mufflers are the same way here. Law states no muffler should make unusual noise or excessive smoke. Again the law is vague. I know a few years back I got pulled over for playing my stereo loud, it was not that loud of a system high 20's low 30's at full tilt and I was no where near that. While getting my warning a harley passed that vibrated my car and could be heard even after the bike could not be seen. So just depends on the officer that pulls you over or hears it.
  5. In the 230 range you will be limited to something like a BRZ1700. Which is a good amp for the money and possibly the best in its price range or find a good deal on a used 2k something. I would look for something like an AQ 2200 or a rockford T1500 or T2500 or a Sundown there are so many good amps out there to be had but sticking to 230 is a hard thing to do in a quality amp which I am sure is why you posted this. I did find an AQ1200 for sale in Austin if you are willing to drive a bit and it can be strapped so easy upgrade in the future http://austin.craigslist.org/ele/2593759693.html Good luck with your hunt man, I just wanted to ask about the electrical and make sure you thought about it.
  6. A few questions before I say anything. What condition is your electrical in? Have you done the big 3? What kind of battery do you have under the hood? Will you be adding a battery in the trunk? How much spare amperage do you have on your alternator? I know I, like many others, have burned up amps starving them for power. If you are going to upgrade to a level 4 or decided to do an HDC 3 which are both 1k rms rated then your 1200 will be solid for a while. If you have not done any, I would invest in electrical upgrades then start looking for another amp or think about an H/O alt then another amp.
  7. it sounds like you own a modem. you need a router depending on what you want to spend either the mac airport or netgear are the two I would use. I have owned a few different types and those are the easiest to set up. Does your school not have wifi on campus? In theory a wireless router should think of the ethernet port from the wall as a modem so it should do the job and allow multiple computers to access the one source.
  8. if the ring gear the speed sensor reads is mounted to the rotor it could be something as minor as debris collected in the teeth on the gear when they were turned or it could have stuck to the the sensor it is also possible that a tooth was broken on the ring gear as well as a stretched wire or a shifted sensor or a sensor was broken. Another simple possibility is if you did not press the brake pedal prior to driving to seat the pads they would have compressed at a different rate on the first drive and that could also set a code. Air would normally leave you a spongy pedal so unless that is the case i doubt that is your problem. The best advice is either go to a shop and have them pull the code or go to a part store and have them pull it. It should tell you which side is reading wrong. If it is the pump I would consult a garage may be something as minor as some light debris in the line clogged a port when he compressed the calipers. They will flush the system to clear it or it could have blown an inner seal. The best way to compress calipers on abs systems is place a tube that fits snugly over the bleeder, run the tube to a into a partial can of brake fluid so the tube is below the liquid, crack the bleeder then compress the caliper draining the fluid into the can then close the bleeder then remove the tube. It avoids the chance of backing garbage into the pump or damaging seals. Good luck with your problem I hope it is nothing serious because abs problems can get pricy but a lot of the problems are just simple things due to overlooked steps in the process.
  9. I have not run windows on my mac but i found this on google hope it helps. http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/04/boot-camp-tutorial-install-windows-xp.html this one is set up for leopard so should be similar for snow leopard
  10. I was on my way to a machine shop in the country to pick up a set of heads they had worked for us when the news came on the radio a jet had crashed into the first tower I was like wtf is going on in ny. When I walked in to the shop Bob was staring at the tv when the second jet struck i dont think we said much after the initial hello. I set there for about an hour or so when I finally called my boss to say I would be back shortly. When I got back to work we sat there in the office for the rest of the day listening to the radio. I remember sitting on my porch that evening noticing how quiet it was with no planes in the air. It was confusion about what was going on and concern for my friends that worked and lived in NY as well as for the people who had been snuffed out so unnecessarily. I still am overcome with sublime emotion when I see footage from that day or go to art exhibits that either show photos from that day or are inspired by that day.
  11. Fair enough C-Fiz maybe a bad choice there man I was referring to the regular line not the T Line.
  12. No I have not. I would love to so I could see if PG is getting back closer to its roots. That is why I have been watching their forum and seeing what folks are saying. The new owner seems to in theory dedicated to getting them ranked back to their top level status and not the pyle/lanzar status they did have, but only time will tell if they are successful and it is an uphill battle. Their amps may never get to Sundown SounDigital level but I would like to see them back ranked with the Rockford Kicker lines.
  13. In the forum on the PG website there is a link to a review. There were only 100 of "the one " made so good luck getting one. I think the retail on it is somewhere around 6000. I do not run it but there is a guy on the forum from Australia doing a shop demo build with the new PG gear. He is also the distributor for his area.
  14. I think a lot of things are if you build it they will come. If you do a really nice build then other folks in your area will probably feel the need to step up their game. Those are the guys to build a community with. In my nephews area all of the folks where kicker rockford and alpine nutthuggers. Nothing wrong with the equipment lots of good stuff there but there are alternatives. For his first build, he used my old Treo 12's and eclipse and zapco amps and blew his buddies away at the quality and opened their eyes to alternatives. Now he has all AQ amps and subs with focal highs and his best friend just got a pair of sundown sa10's and a sax 1200 after owning only Alpine gear. As for shows prob will not happen. We had them in my area back in the 80's and 90's but they have died out now. There are plenty of competitions within a couple of hours from where I live. It only takes one to introduce new ideas and let them spread.
  15. Glad you got it off. Hate to hear that it does not fit. Happens far to often man.
  16. Since you do not have a tensioner tool u might try this. Get a piece of metal pipe that will fit over the handle of your ratchet. Place socket on the bolt on the pully and turn away from the belt. The tensioner is probably just stiff and hard to turn. It could be seized like n8 said if so it will break the inside apart and never regain tension. If that happens go to parts store buy new one. Then you will need to loosen the top bolt to take it off and replace it. The top bolt should not need to be loosened to just release pressure on the belt.
  17. If your truck is a 1996 or newer it should be OBDII. The gov made it required on 96 but some companies drug their rearends till 98 on geting the system going. That aside I would be tempted to agree with the gentleman who said the cool temp sender may be bad. Best way is to plug in to obd connect and watch what the temp says it is doing. Most cars have a coolant temp sensor and a temp sender which makes it really easy to see if one is bad. they dont match up that simple. Another way would be get an infrared thermometer and read the hose as it comes out of the thermostat it will prob be a few degrees off but close enough to tell if the temp gauge is reading accurately. Also do not discount that the temp guage could be bad, it happens but I would not worry even if you replace the sender they only cost 15-20 on most vehicles so no big heft if the problem did end up being the gauge. To read coolant hose out of the thermostat housing the thermostat must be open or removed
  18. infinity jbl both made by harmon international and if u can snag those references for 70 scoop them up just like the guys said make sure u put a bass blocker on them or maybe the bose system has crossover points set up and it is only getting 100-160hz up they do not like anything below that.
  19. I am south of nash by 70 miles we have a shop in town down here with a termlab but i do not know about that area so much. there is a guy on here i wish i could remember his name from the lebanon mt juliet area that if i am not mistaken competes and would probably be able to help you out up that way.
  20. Hey man what part of mid tn are you in?
  21. I dont blame you man I was just throwing out ideas anyway. If you are looking for 2 ohm 4x6 it may be rough. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the JBL 4x6 plate they are 2ohm.http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7987-p6462-jbl-4-x-6-2-way-power-series-plate-speakers.aspx They are a little over your budget but are two ohm. my brother has two sets in his truck and they scream the front have 75w going to each and the rears have 30w to each. They are clean and very accurate but not a lot of low end since it runs a 3.5-4 mid instead of a full 46. I would say you could compare them to the quality of the t series or the infinity reference.
  22. I personally would not waste my money on those boss is not known for any type of sq plus you have a nice sub and amp why insult them by putting that in there. If you want to go on the cheap you could pick up a pair of clarion srg's that would sound much better i think for around 35. I ran the srq's in a temporary set up and had great sq for what they were. In your original post you mentioned rockford I would give the t series a go I have ran power series highs in the past and they were pretty good no where near Hertz Focal or Rainbow put solid and better than the clarions i mentioned and leaps in front of Boss.
  23. How much power are you running to them? Are the remaining speakers the stock ones? With 3500 on a sub you need some decent power going to your highs so you do not drown them out completely imho. So are you planning on upgrading in the future all or starting on replacing and adding to until all are replaced?
