Man, I went thru all 47 pages of the previous build log earlier today, and I gotta say, I don't feel near as bad now for taking so long with mine! Although you were bustin out a lot of work in between... If anyone has not read it, or just don't remember like me, then you should really go back and check it out. This car has came a long way from the day you got it back from the theft. Very cool build! And I like how your son was helping work on it all the way back in 2006, that makes it even more cool! Wish I could get my son into this hobby...

I noticed a little while back that almost none of my pictures are showing up on my build logs. I have always used facebook, and never had any problems until now. I checked there, and all of my pics are still up. Just not here. So is there any chance that maybe they changed the links? Or is this something to do with this site? I'm just bummed, since I had 3 different build logs, with LOTS of pics and descriptions. Spent a lot of time on it, I'd hate to lose it all.. So anyone got anything (hope) for me on this issue? Well I thought I knew a lot about car audio ever since I started doing installs, in the mid to late 90's. However, I only knew the basics, wasn't near as smart as I thought I was. I didn't really learn much until I found SMD, back in 2009. That's when I started reading, and learning, and now have absolute confidence in my ability and knowledge!

Ahh bummer! Oh well, at least you got the hardest part done now! So do you think that maybe it is controlled by the PCM after all? If so, you could probably do the "diode trick", but on a $60K car, I personally would not do that... I would just hit up Chris, that is, if Mechman can't get it fixed up for ya. Sweet! Man, that is a really nice unit! I seen in the video where they also included an adjustable voltage boost module, that is kick-ass! Just when I think this build can't get any better, it does!

Looks awesome! I can't wait to get a Mechman alt on my ride! One question though. Isn't your voltage controlled by the pcm? Just curious if it came with a voltage module, since you said your car only charges @ 13.1-13.4, and this alt would run at a higher voltage? Anyway, that is a really nice looking alt, with really nice output, should make for a stout setup along with what you already have!

That is SUPER fucked up! But, like Keith said, not all mechanics are shady fuckers like that. I say close down the shop. It all goes back to the owner, for having guys like that as employees. I bet if shops start getting shut down, dumb asses like these will become fewer. And bosses will be more about hiring good help, instead of the cheapest labor they can find...
