The R9 290/x are hot, but i'm enjoying my 290x, and as far as i've seen it compares well with the 780Ti for roughly the same price as the 780. Im sure if you had 100s of people on a daily basis saying that "you did it wrong" or "you should of bought this instead" you would get rather on edge. yea because a 1tb ssd is way too slow for playing battlefield 4 As for the 290X JUNK! I waited for this card, I talked this thing up and waited. Thought AMD would finally come out with a legit card.. After the 2nd or 3rd pushed back presale of the card news of 780s price drop surfaced followed, followed by the 780ti... Me, Im glad I didnt buy that AMD card because it runs hot, it runs loud, and it runs slow compared to the 780ti, or even a slightly overclocked 780. AMD got the hype so huge on the card so dang fast and could of been a great seller, but they missed it with its never confirmed release. Sure the 290x beats the titan on 2 games out of the 7 games.... That really made it the claimed "titan killer" it was claimed to be, and it actually took nvidia to release the real titan killer card. Fact is, the cards run hot, even with water cooling they cant be oc'ed for crap and a REFERENCE gtx780 with the stock air cooler being overclocked will walk all over a 290x, not to mention the gtx780 is $50 bucks cheaper. Its a matter of opinion if you think that card is better, but usually thats just fanboys supporting the product. I myself love AMD processors, and was really pushing for that 290X, but I just couldnt do it.. Not to mention, AMD claimed that those red lines on the heatsinks where going to be illuminated? what ever happened to that? did they ditch it because it took to long to produce or what? Lol

I just realized something here and I think its kind of funny. Anytime someone tries to prove their knowledge in the computer world they pull out the "Im an IT for such and such company". Ok, your job is working with computers, more so the errors from the idiots at said companies using them or messing with settings they have no idea what they do. Your pro, I rate you slightly above a MECP Certified Best Buy car audio installer!, Why because those installers took a dumb'ed down version of a MECP test for the job, further more they have no actual experience most the time, and they became certified by answering multiple choice questions with no hands on experience, or even teaching. Walk into a Best Buy car audio department with a small chunk of true 1/0 gauge cable and tell him you need ring terminals, have your camera ready for the look he will give you! But back to the IT guys claim of fame... Your job is mostly dealing with keeping the companies network running and running smoothly from what I gather. I use to be interested in this field. How many of those machines are running a high end graphics card? How many of those machines are water cooled? How many of those machines are actually built by the IT guys? Oh thats right they all say dell on the side of the tower, use onboard intel graphics, and some crazy contraption of plastic shrouds and a gimped piece of metal to keep them "cool"...... I have a buddy that lost his high paying factory job, and went into this field 7ish years ago, he works for US Bank and is the only IT guy at this branch. The best part is every time he gets a new pc built guess who he calls to go over the parts before ordering and who is putting it together??? But I will give him credit, because when it came to networks, mine in specific he got my 4 Linksys routers that are all slightly different models all to wireless synced to boost my wifi range around my house. Ill admit I failed on it, and even flashed them all to the newest software, and no matter what I did it just wouldnt work but he got it going for me and it only took a matter of minutes. But hey thats what his job consists off, not building high end computers...

WHOA!!!! Wait a person that actually understands that all TIMs are not the same viscosity, and some of them that come with some brand coolers are actually very runny, and are normally non conductive paste. While others like artic silver or mx, or ic diamond is conductive to name a few and causes a huge problem if it oozes off the chip. No matter how many people reply saying its not an issue with how it is applied, and actually know the differences between different types of thermal pastes like us, Im sure people will continue to reply saying "YOU DID IT WRONG"! lol

There are actually some of the new socket 2011 chips leaked iirc. Of coarse if those leaks are legit or not my guess is as good as yours, but they dont seem to be stearing away from the X79 2011chipset anytime soon. Even more proof to back this up is Asus's release of the new bad ass $500 2011 motherboard which is pretty much the same board, but revised and improvements on a bunch of things and labled a black edition. So that pretty much says 2011 is here to stay for now, but your 1155s will fade out.. Man I dont know why I follow this crap since I run AMD cpu's mostly (but I do have an i7 on my laptop) LOL What I do find odd is ddr4 is right around the corner as well, but that most likely hit end users/enthusiasts like us until q3 or q4 of 2014 im sure, since no one seems to really be doing a mobo for it and everything being worked on for it currently seems to be server based stuff, but with in time that always trickles down.

With talking to him through the rebuild, almost everything was bought LOCALLY (minus the water cooling, and the 3rd video card (since that has been out of stock locally for some time now)). Not to mention to spend $500-1000+ on a current socket 2011 Intel chip right now is rather dumb, the new new chips are right around the corner and coming very very fast, which will result in these big dog chips like the i7-4960X will be dropping in price big time since Intel will continue devolving for this socket (or so all the big time geeks are reporting such as Anandtech, Tek Syndicate, Linus, etc.

Yea, I guess they are working on a new HDMI version but its progression so far is still rather slow, and no where near what Display Port v1.2 can do. Which they are working on DisplayPort v1.3 currently, and that will be able to run up to 8k resoulition monitors.... :shok: :shok: But like I said both our cards have display port 1.2 so no worries there

Looking so PIMP!! Cant wait to see her running, hopefully flawless BF4 Just be aware with 1440P your going to need to use Display Port for the video connections. card should already have that anyways, and it handles so much more bandwidth HDMI cant support 1440P, well it can but only at 30FPS is all the cable can handle for a single monitor.

Oh your other 2 meters are output meters. I was having the same idea, but doing it with the VU Din, but its no longer made Screw Raid setups, yea they are fast, until it feels like screwing up and all data lost, Not something really needed on a gaming machine, completely different if your purely after bench marking. But thats just me. Id rather have a ram disk, so much faster than raid, but then again once you restart your pc you lose all cached info. I cant say, I have not used them on other sized baskets. only 12s. The 6spoke 18 baskets they are made for currently until their new 18inch basket is done up for what they need, but that also does not included a spaced spider. Cutting the cone out for a slightly larger diameter coil may give you enough room, but maybe not.. Your going to be taking a gamble with it, especially since Sundown tooled their own baskets for the cones to work together as 1, not some off the shelf frame that is massively used.

Im assuming you mean TI, not TO And no to the spider spacers, unless your using a 1/4inch spacer and like 2 spiders(and that maybe pushing it), the clearance is not there at all. The cone is resting on top of the spiders, a little to close for comfort, and pushed the cone up about 1/8higher then should be, but nothing major since these motors cant utilize the cones to their max anyways I dont think.

Also be prepared for the cones not to fit the standard baskets usually used, they are way different on the pitch and depth of the cone, to use a proper basket your also going to need to find a coil with a much longer former height to be able to reach the cone.
