No it is not. The top plate on a Audio Que HD3 is flat, there is not angle to the top. Now from what I heard from reliable sources the American bass 4inch subs, and the HD4 are from the same build house. Edit for a picture of an AudioQue HD3 Top plates are a bit different.

The motor is not a Maybem or a old triple stack btl becuse this woofer has a vented pole piece. No Mayhem or BTL ever had a vented pole. The motor is not a Sundown Nightshade version 2 because the top plate and bottom plate have no venting. The motor is not a Sundown Z version 1 because the top plate is drastically different where the basket meats the motor (have 2 in zv2 in my house right now). The motor is not a Sundown Nightshade version 1 because this motor is way to short, vs the nightshade v1 that is a huge triple stack. Not to mention all these above woofers never came with a magnet boot. Sure you can put a magnet boot on any woofer if its the proper size, but a Mayhem, BTL, Nightshade V1 and V2 have huge 3 slug motors, that are almost twice the size of this sub in question. I have extensive time with all the above woofers and reconing them. So I know for sure its none of the above listed.. What this motor is however is either an American Bass HD motor. Top plate is idenitical as your pictures and has a magnet boot. Pretty sure I told you this already, makes me sad you dont trust my judgement.

The bit is a 1/4 spiral upcut bit, you could also use a 2 or 3 flute straight bit too, but the spiral upcut or downcut bit is much faster. If its a serious thing you want to do as a career I think the MECP is a waste of time at the start. All you do is read a box and take a test. No real hands on experience. No joke, but there has been people who took this coarse already, apply for a job, and not even know how to do a head unit instal in a simple vehicle. Some places will even pay for the mecp course after you work for them. Theres a good bit of useful info gained from MECP but unless your actually doing it, it will be hard to do it in real life when the time comes. But then again, I learn things differently then others, and the way I see the MECP stuff is like taking history classes in high scool, hell I only remember Christopher columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 because of the jingle that goes with it.. But again, these corses are something you would want to take after you have a job, and are in a field that you enjoy doing. The best advice is to find a local shop to you, one that you feel is decent (but being new to the field it maybe hard for you to get the feel of it being a reputable shop or not) but once you find a place, talk to the manager, and try to get some sort of apprentice type deal worked out, where your there a few hours a day, emptying trash, stock shelfs, grabbing parts, and watching the installers do their things. Just remember in most shops, stereo installs are not the companies bread and butter income. Lots of it is keyless entry/remote start/alarm installs, and there maybe days where you got 8-14 cars to install remote starts on in 1 day, and may not do a system install for a couple weeks!! This is a big misconception to most people and they think they will just be doing a lot of stereo installs.

Think his car is around a 160outlaw, and in the 157 legal range, and bassboxes pretty consistant 155s. So im sure this build will be a big success!

I'm sorry I gave you the CORRECT answers, with the necessary testing items needed that you don't have to even do your experiments and even get halfway legit results. Even tho you don't want to hear it, and still don't want to hear it. I guess I live in the real world and I don't take a trolly to make believe land like some. You are not building nothing, you are cutting a plug off a heater and hooking it up to a $4 potentiometer from radio shack and hooking it up to your speaker outputs. And yes, you are achieving nothing but getting test results reputable manufactures already list at multiple voltages and impedance's. However since you dont have the needed tools to test the acutal output of an amplifier all your going to do is make a heater hot, likes intended purpose. facepalm......

But I am sorry for adding technical and factual information that you do not want to comprehend or listen too. So with that my friend, go do your experiments and hopefully you don't blow up some expensive audio gear in your path to know what is already known and proven. Good night to you sir!

But there is more then that just for a clipping indicator to work properly.. Stetsom, Audio Que, Digital Designs, plus many more amps have clipping indicators, and all 3 have been proven to be wrong, and way off, not only by the O-scope, but by the dd-1 too.. So at any rate, you will be getting the short end of the stick during testing because you will would not turn up the volume once you see your makeshift indicator flash, even tho it will not be anywhere accurate, thus resulting in very inaccurate tests. IMO making the whole deal and time wasted, since its something you seem to already understand, but to do it for no reason is pointless, without proper measuring equitment which will costs a easy 600$ (dd-1, true rms clamp and dmm, or even a o-scope and a clamp and dmm). But I guess is why do you need to build some crazy contraption to know what power your amp makes when a legit company will not give false ratings???? And ok so you tested your amp, and it does 20billion watts rms like the company said... You hook it to your woofers and after your normal 2-4X impedance rise your amp only does 5billion to 10billion watts..... So you achieved nothing in the end. Unless you plan on making a subwoofer in a day that does not have impedance rise too! lmao

Not saying you CANT do it, nor know your background,but its more then just a light that blinks... Most the amplifiers on the market now, dont even have anywhere near and accurate clipping indicator, so if multimillion dollar companies building amplifiers cant figure it out, what makes you think you can? Hell if it was so easy to make a clipping indicator, it wouldnt of took D'amore engineering along with Juan and Steve months and months of time to build the SMD DD-1 clipping and distortion detector beofore going into production, and your gonna built it in 1 day??? and these are head Engineers from Rockford Fosgates in the R&D department for a LONGGGGGGGGG time.
