  1. Scooby look back a few posts and youll see ive taken voltage readings and readings for the speakers. The reducers are completely wrapped in shrink tubing and have space between them so they def. Arent touching
  2. It could be im not certain. The songs were off store bought cds so they arent boosted or messed with
  3. Nope it only does it on certain gucci mane songs. I gave my system a 2 hour shake down last night with varying speeds between 30 and 70 but didnt play any gucci and it didnt shut down once. Only thing was that none of the songs had the tone lengths that gucci songs do
  4. I can hear my sundowns crying when i unlock my car and get in lol I NEED THESE!!!
  5. Looks like based on measurements i'll be making a ported clam to fit the height properly with the subs. Subs will be inverted on the clam walls to show off dat ass as well as shrink down the enclosure a smidge. Tuning is to 35hz for daily, entire enclosure is double thick birch ie 1.5" thick walls. Dimensions: width - 40.75 height - 34 depth - 32 Port width - 37.75 height - 6 depth - 23 enclosure gross - 19.6 cuft. enclosure net - ~14 (i think) Please please PLEASE if you see something wrong let me know so i can get it right lol
  6. Yup using the dd1, have everything set to flat on the deck, zero bass boost on the amp and the distortion light doesnt come on at full gain
  7. So i was able to get outside and check everything out in the car again. Everything is wired properly, aka pos. to pos. and neg. to neg. The speaker connection at the amp reads between 1.1 and 0.8 Front battery voltage at rest is 12.77 Front battery voltage at idle is 14.01 Back battery voltage at rest is 12.78 Back battery voltage at idle is 14.00 I played a couple gucci songs to the point they would cut the amp out and they played through like nothing was ever a miss idle voltage without the bass knob fluctuated between 13.8 and 13.35 idle voltage with the bass knob up dropped to a steady hold at 12.8 Like i said before i never play at a standstill unless i have the engine revving at 2000 to 2500 rpm so the drop to 12.8 at idle is negligible. I'll hopefully have time to get some drive time in and see whats going on with it a little more. I'll put my tpi in the car with me and see what happens at the amp when and if it cuts out again. I think this is just the amps way of saying it doesn't like to play nicely with sundown subs and want to play with the new m3 8 cough cough rusty cough cough Edit: on a side note, how do i check for imp. rise at the amp? I hooked my tpi up to the speaker connections at the amp and it went hay-wire saying ouch all the time. I'd like to see what it rises to when it does. Newb question i know lol
  8. oh no doubt, especially the age of the alt it won't surprise me much whatever it is. I'm getting more voltage gauges, both non-digital, one at the front battery and one at the amp to check differences along the line. Once i get the new alt i doubt i'll have any voltage problems but with my current battery setup i'm still surprised i'm having issues. But being certain songs it throws me for a loop and makes me not think it to be voltage. Because other songs get low and wreck the car and the voltage is the same and it plays through the song. The box was designed by Ray and i built it myself out of birch. Direct speaker connections, no through bolts or speaker terminal cups. Pre tinned ofc speaker wire. I really didn't skimp out on anything lol Edit: Bass boost is down as far as it'll go on the amp, i've smoked too many subs and amps being stupid with the bass boost settings. If i can't get it with the gain, i need more power lol. I triple checked everything before i turned it on initally but i'll check it again.
  9. voltage is being read at the cd player because it is built into the deck. I can check it at the amp as well, not a big deal. With the battery right at the amp i figured i wouldn't have much problems. Yes i understand i need a better alternator but mechman's pricing has gone up since i got my 270 in my ranger so i'm saving up still lol
  10. yeah i can verify it once it's light outside and my neighbors aren't asleep lol. My voltage drops to 13 flat when i'm driving. Its the stock alt from 2002 still as far as i can tell since i'm second owner. I turn it down at lights and if i'm at a standstill in a parking lot or the like, i increase the rpm to about 2000 to 2500 to simulate driving rpm.
  11. 1 and 2 for the headunit and i believe 7 (louder system) for the amp
  12. Just finished installing my 1.2k on 4 sundown e8s in my grand prix. Here is my electrical run down: Pioneer DEH-80PRS Stock alt (upgrading soon) 2 XSPOWER D3400s (1 in the stock location and one about 1ft. away from the amp) Big 3 in american bass ofc 1/0 american bass ofc 1/0 power and ground front to back fused to 300a at front and back batteries (power line only) american bass ofc 1/0 power and ground to the amp fused to 150a about 10 inches from the battery (power line only) streetwires 1/0 to 4 ga. reducers heatshrink wrapped to avoid contact between power and ground, drilled for the set screws to hold better in the amp average rcas 12 ga. speaker wire Subs are dual 2 ohm, subs individually wired in series, than all 4 in parallel to a single 1 ohm load DD-1 to tune the cd player and the amp cd player is good to 61 out of 62 amp can be put to full gain without distortion but is about 3/4 Certain songs will cut the amp off completely after 3 seconds or so, which these are songs that were burned onto a cd from my laptop that i had added the entire cd initially from an actual cd in the first place (yes i still have cds haha) Mainly gucci mane and a couple other rap songs Other songs will slam for as long as i want. Almost seems like it's higher frequencies (couldn't tell you what they were, still sub frequencies though) Any thoughts?
  13. Lets not forget about these 8s in the midst of this epic lvl 6 18s battle going on...i need to replace my sundown 8s
  14. haha thanks cody, i thought that was what you said. Didn't wanna text you, i know i've annoyed you enough lol
  15. thanks eazy, gonna really focus on it this time, sick of saying i'm gonna do it and not haha
  16. Gonna take some measurements once i'm done with my car wiring. Gotta get the subs and amp out of my room since no one wants to buy them haha. Center Port seems doable from eyeing up my opening in the truck. Gonna make some cardboard cutouts to see what will fit properly
  17. Decided to cut the shell out of kryptonite on sunday figuring that i wouldn't do anything with it and sell all my gear. While at work, i came up with one last idea for a basic flat wall instead of the 4th i was planning. Now you may be thinking, big woop, flat wall with 4 15s, waste of a walk through. And yes you're right lol but i can't give up without trying lol. So what i'm asking of ya'll is, best thoughts on enclosure size and port tuning? I remember jeff and cody told me about 15 cubes but than what port should i do? Would like to slam the lows and move some air lol Not looking for a competition rig, just a brutal daily driver. So what do ya'll think?
