ive never heard of a recone kit for a JL or a reconed JL but if the recone is $40 then id stick with the JL unless the rockford sub ur talking about is bigger than the JL... (more cone area = better)

but seriously anywhere between 2.25-2.5cu.ft. would be perfect for that power range that ur wanting (1.5-2k) anything over 2.5cu.ft. IMO is to big for 1 12"

from wut i hear...i hear bose uses shitty speakers and tunes/eq's the living shit out of them to make them sound good but bose system does sound pretty good id just get the bose system and add subs to it later on down the road...ive heard the bose system in many cars before and they all sounded pretty damn good for stock system...except in my moms escalade...its lacking the low end bass -
