  1. Glad you're okay. one of the last times I was in Baltimore two 13 year old kids pulled a gun on me and my brother. Everything seems to slow down as you think to yourself how this cant be happening doesn't it? I got lucky my brother actually wrestled the gun from the kid and the cops caught them a few hours later.
  2. I can't comment on the sludge, though it is just a variation of the spectrum. It seems to hold very well to a clean surface. My interior is loaded down with greasy leather conditioner and armor-all, so I don't expect it so hold well there. Even still you must physically scrape the product off with a solid object to remove it. With the short term experience I have I can say I don't see any way it would not stick to any clean surface. It stuck to all metal/rubber/plastic panels in and on my door. It also stuck to the Damplifier Pro very well. Spectrum can be used as an undercoating so I don't see how it would not hold up well to water. I sprayed some in my tire wells over top of the old undercoating already there. The weather calls for rain so I'll let you know how it holds up to it. It's had 2 days to dry in the sun first though.
  3. Time to spray- one full container of the gun is 1/4 gallon. Make sure to cover ANY exposed area you don't want treated- windows, seats, ect. I intentionally let some over-spray get on my interior just to see how easy it is to remove. Once dried it scrapes off of painted surfaces and leather- so if you get a bit of mist on things don't panic. I would NOT let any get on a custom or cloth interior though. It does not wipe right off, it does need scraped but it is not permanent if you don't want it to be. Grocery bags work great to cover motors and door handles that don't detach easily. 80 psi on the gun. After 24 hours I reapplied the plastic moisture barrier, using the wooden roller to put pressure on the old adhesive. It still works great, no need to replace it with something hard to remove if you need to replace a something in there. I haven't had time to do the front yet, it took so long to clean everything good I ran out of time before it rained. I will update the front door pics and tire well pics next weekend if it isn't raining. My initial review- easiest mat I've ever had the pleasure of working with (used about 1/2 dozen brands). The spectrum was a bit messier than I anticipated, but it was SO much easier than banging up my knuckles trying to reach corners I couldn't see. I ended up with 1-2mm of Spectrum on all treated surfaces, and I think it does a good job. 3 coats (3mm) would probably be great, but it's so much quieter I don't think there would be much difference from a little more. I am excited to treat the rest of the vehicle, I'm sure it will be so much quieter a ride as it made an ENORMOUS difference on my rear doors. Anyone interested in seeing more pictures can visit the full log: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/4/580630.html Thanks for the great product! Only company I'll use from now on.
  4. A scraper works great- just apply enough pressure to get as much of the stretchy glue off as possible without scratching the paint: Use a rag or two and some acetone to remove the excess glue off the metal. Also clean the entire area to be treated to ensure proper adhesion. I prefer to cut the largest piece possible, start a corner, and roll it so I can install as large a piece of deadener as possible without seams. You can also cut it into easily manageable pieces. Two sheets of deadener just covers the large flat skin layer on each door, I recommend a door kit for every two doors to treat. I used painters tape to cover the areas I don't want spectrum to get on. Normally you would not need to do this, and would want more coverage by the mat, but the spectrum will get those curved areas much easier for me.
  5. After winning the contest a few weeks ago I received a door kit of Damplifier Pro, as well as a Fury knife and wooden roller (Thanks)! I also ordered a spray gun and 2 gallons of Spectrum because I wanted to put at least 2 coats of deadener on all 4 doors. The kit includes 8 sheets that total 13sqft, I need at least 6 ft of mat to cover each door. I used the mat on the large flat outer skin, and spectrum as an additional layer and the coating for the inside panel. I will most likely be ordering a few more gallons of spectrum for the floorboard- I am really pleased with the outcome. Before starting use the button on the dash to disable the dome/door lights otherwise you might have a hot bulb in your hand. Anyway, on to pics: Door kit Product: Doors before working. There are two bolts holding it in place, one in the inside bottom corner and one under the solid handle- 7mm. There are two wires holding it in place - one for a bulb that just pulls out and the other for the power windows. You may need a small screw driver to pop the clip loose but I was able to get it without one. I recommend saving the moisture barrier that comes from the factory. Rain does get into the door panels. Moisture can soak into the carpet pad-like sound deadener on the plastic panel.
  6. I had much more success with mechman than Iraggi. I would chose stinger, DC, Mechman, powermaster, etc. The 300+ amp units Dom sent me put out... well lets just say you couldn't trip a house breaker with the amperage (and I don't mean 220v or specialty). DC and mechman really seem to have good idling output.
  7. I would do at least 14.5x14.5 to get you the bare minimum if you want a square port. 200sq inches should be good, but with 2kw per sub you would have no problem doing quite a bit more port area. Sounds like you could do 16ft net and do a 16x16" port. That would be my suggestion- good luck.
  8. I can see that sub being disqualified or bumped up to the higher class. Sounds sort of like bad sportsmanship, you know?
  9. A few weeks ago I was given a 5 year old dell with TONS of viruses/malware running windows XP. It was used as an office PC just to run Microsoft Office and Explorer, with a Pentium 4, 40g hard drive, and 256mb of ram- crap graphics card etc. I wiped the hard drive, tossed an extra gig of ram in with the 256 of DDR that was already there and reformatted the hard drive with Ubuntu 9.04 as the OS. It loads faster than the computer I bought about a month ago with 4 gigs of ram and a quad core AMD. It loads very extensive sites faster than my other two Windows computers (XP and Vista), and as you said is very stable. I just plan on using it as a practice server before uploading potential work to the real server me and a buddy will be using. It serves it's purpose well and imo outperforms two other computers I use that are at least 4-5 years newer for daily activities.
  10. Hey bro, I'm pretty interested but does the plug look like this? I can't tell from the picture but it looks like the newer plug which wont fit my 01 tahoe. If it's the same can you quote to 29526
  11. Great job. I took my SAT after a late night of ass and did good enough I didn't worry about the ACT. Everyone was supprised when the vp came in to class to wake me and hand me a plaque for doing so good on the test lol. 30s is really great though, I'd be in bunches too. Congrats.
  12. Damn I'm excited about this car (the SS really). I probably will wait and look for one with just a few k miles on it 'cause I'm cheap, but I think they're the best looking camaro in decades, and obviously the most fun to drive. 300hp for that price with the styling is excellent imo, I would like to see the torque and weight of it though.
  13. I don't like losing thousands in depreciation in a matter of seconds as the vehicle rolls off the lot. I'd rather get something a year old with low mileage and good shape than waste my money. I know a lot of people who thought they'd never lose their job and have been layed off recently losing their cars, their house, etc. within just a few months. If I was living at home and had a wife I'd be putting money aside like a fiend to get my ass out. just my view on it. It sounds like you are wanting to live above your means. I make quite a bit more than you say you are atm (not meant negative at all) and I pinch pennies all the time! I was wasteful for a while but I realize now how much more important it is to save money for your wife, kids, even your future. My wife and I do well with our combined incomes, but I work 60-70 hours a week plus go to college so I can make working an option for her in the near future. My family deserves the best, and to me that doesn't mean a new car it means quality time together and a high standard of living. You may have different values or ideas of what is important and that's fine, not trying to chap your ass just give you an honest opinion since you asked. They are nice cars but you should ask yourself where you want to be in a few years and if this purchase will help get you there. 400 a month extra is not a lot of money, especially if your situation turns. Best luck with your ticket bro.
  14. Emo section would be an AWESOME idea. I see the subtitle "Have something insignificant to bitch about? Post it HERE." I don't mind when I read a post about someones X dying, or hey I'm facing 10-life, what should I do. But when it's "guys I've been dating this girl 2 weeks and she dumped me, I'm in love and don't know what to do" kingsuv has it with "grow a sack" There are some things that you need to man up and recognize in the scheme of your life are not important. On a side note and imo worth posting, my wife gave birth to our first child yesterday
  15. Pergo is FAST man, unless you have a crap ton to do. Just don't tap too hard and you'll be good. I did a buddies moms entire house except where I but ceramic tile in the kitchen, sunroom and bathrooms. I'd do pergo over tile anyday just becasue you can get in, get out and get paid. Make sure you pull the 1/4 round off or add it afterwards so you can do quick cuts on the ends. I can't think of any real advice because it is pretty easy, use the plastic block I guess lol. Good luck.
  16. Go to your local health center, or any girl who's on the pill can go and get a free bag of like 50 condoms. Enough people go, or if you go back and say you used them all they give you more. I'm married and I still have a bag of like 50-100 condoms just 'cause. All the senoir pranks at my school were taken too seriously and ended with kids not graduating so there were none when I was in h/s. One guy sliced up the priciples tires, they never caught him. Another guy got kicked out for sticking a tampon up his ass and walking around then went to the nurse to complain about a pain in his ass. I had some really stupid people I graduated with, really no organization there. One guy was suicidal and decided to hang himself from the bleachers with his bookbag to make some kind of dumbassed statement/senior prank on everyone. His bookbag broke and he was sent away for therapy. People just made fun of him after that, I don't know anyone who didn't call him funk.
  17. Yeah a buddy had 3 quantum 15s on 3 2500s and it was not loud at all. He tried sealed, ported, and never dropped below 13v with his factory alt and 1 spare yellow top. The amps just didn't put out power and it never really sounded good. I saw a guy with 4 quantum 15s in a wall do just shy of 145 with a few thousand watts of Quantum power. I would never buy anything from them. I ran hifonics amps for a while and they were much better imo. The 2006ds would go into protect with a .5ohm load, the quantum just got hot like crazy no matter what you did, 1 ohm wasn't dependable from what I saw from my friends setup.
  18. I would tell them they are crippling your ability to make intelligent financial decisions. What so you move out and suddenly you’re in control of all your money and simultaneously out of control if you get my drift. Sounds like an awesome sub there.
  19. Looks like it's really moving some air! Do you know about what the tuning is?
  20. I talked to someone with a really good paging remote- he was on a roller coaster when his car was stolen. I've been paged to my vehicle several times from people bumping into it- and ran outside in the dark about to shoot someone just to find a cat had jumped on my car and set it off lol. Good enough aim and you wont need running shoes seriously though, an alarm isn't enough insurance, its just hope you'll never have to use your real insurance.
