All this hype about caps got me thinking. WHat would happen if you have a big bank of caps in the trunk and get rear ended. If you have like 72 caps, thats a lot positives and negatives that could short. Just my thinking.

A large cap bank would probly have massive buss bars separating the caps and bracing them. Might not be worse then batteries in a plastic case.
Caps release their current very quickly and it's gone.
Batteries have capacity and can maintain a short for a long time, increasing the chance of a fire.
Interesting topic to think about though...

Dumb Question of the day: Does RCA voltage split when using Y splitters? Let's say you have an RCA ran to the back from 4v pre out and two Y splitters at the end.

^^True. I'm being totally theoretical but manufacturers dont spec stuff like this so who knows? I'm just stating conservative info.

Voltage does not split (devices are in parallel), the current does.
With only a few splits and a high enough input impedance on the amplifiers, there will be no issue. With enough y-split devices, the source unit will be stressed for current and then the voltage may droop.

Does anyone know if i'll loose signal by taking a pair of rca's and splitting it multiple times? I'm sure this has been discussed I just can't find anything. I want to make a distribution block for 2 channels in and about 12 channels out. Thoughts?

Probably just a bunch of high input impedance opamps. The idea and circuitry isn't really difficult but building your own or finding the exact one for your needs will be difficult.

Volts don't split, everythings in parallel. But all those input impedances to the amps will combine and start to draw lots of current from your source. That could stress the source which could cause the signal voltage to droop. Similar to loading an amplifier down too much. For that many interconnections, Id recommend some sort of distribution amplifier for the RCA signals.

146.4 sealed out of the trunk at 33hz. Good enough for 2nd place trunk class. Now to just get into the 147-148 range, I've been looking at the results and most 148db trunks take home a place at every show.

I found the thin Kreg pocket screws would strip out the holes in the MDF very easily. Get the generic pocket screws with deeper/wider threads.
