  1. even high end source units can clip the output signals...there is no unit with completely non clipping outputs
  2. not really...clipping the outputs of a head unit is quite easy in the uninformed hands just the same as an amp....combine the clipped signal from the source with the clipping the amp is doing and does nothing good.
  3. SSF is not needed with sealed as long as you are not way overpowering the sub for the enclosure size
  4. IB is no where near as loud as a proper enclosure...just saves a room and more for sq and having a flat response that gets down really deep easily. If you put an IB sub in an enclosure it'll sound like crap. Try modeling one.
  5. my memphis 15 PR (powered by 250 watts rms) is louder than my friends 12W7 (on 500/1) its in the install
  6. I think I'm a pretty badass driver in the snow...I have a Exploder with 4wd so that helps a ton. My tips....if you have ABS I feel that I stop sooner and have more control if I modulate the brakes to the point of impending ABS. Also always keep your distance and start slowing down WAAYYY before because you never know how bad the traction is. I have family in Texas...ppl down there have no idea how to drive in snow and ice lol....My cousin told me when it iced over in Houston there was over 1000 wrecks in the first hour. I'm up in southern indiana...Basically drive slower and slow down ahead of time...dont try to make a turn going fast at unless you can drift like me.
  7. lol take fs and multiply by .25???? fs is the frequency measured in Hz...multiplying Hz times .25 does give you length.
  8. playing higher notes to a subwoofer will not cause any damage...like forevrbumpn said...the inductance of the coil is why it doesn't really matter
  9. its called Hoffman's Iron law...read up on it
  10. RMS power handling is does not mean the sub needs that much power....I just voted overpower though. Really no reason to over power.
  11. This is false...the 101db efficiency rating is with like 14-20 watts....I can't remember. Jacob (Sundown Audio Owner) was talking about it a while back...I can't remember
  12. playing below tuning with out a subsonic does not necessarily mean a blown woofer. shit i run a single 15 in 4.3 cubes tuned to 40hz with 112.5 sq in of port with no subsonic...zero problems whatsoever even after a few years...800 watt rms amp also.
  13. do they state the power handling for each differently sized enclosures and at what tuning frequencies?? you have 3-6 cu ft...OOO damn..thats just guessing.
  14. Completely different subwoofers for completely different applications.
  15. recommended yeah is between 3-6...doesn't mean shit though
  16. 2-3 cubes per 15L7?? You'll get raped
  17. A capacitor is made for voltage CONDITIONING. Not for tigher quicker bass...it will have no effect on the transient response of the subwoofer...amplifiers come with all the capacitance they need. Adding a cap is for smoothing out voltage spikes and dips of less than .5 volt
  18. sorry bub but i HIGHLY doubt port velocity can exceed the speed of sound...that would be MACH 1. Which would basically create a sonic boom...which is impossible.
  19. Capacitors actual do what they are INTENDED for...Its just that 99% of people expect way too much from a capacitor because they do not know what capacitors are for...The companies that sell caps make up a shit load of marketing lies like "improves sound quality and no more dimming lights"
  20. yeah it may get low...but it is probably still peaky. You said you want a flatter response...well that means with your MT you don't have a flat response so it must be peaking
  21. well SPL subs are made to have a peakier response. Get a new sub that is more oriented for daily and that has a flatter response
  22. i never understood why MTX has to have a 300+ lb frame for a 56.25lb motor structure
