We all know I'm a competing whore lol I started with TNESPL,which honestly I feel is the best format out there, then dbdrag, NSPL, Meca. Last yr I made 36 shows in all kinds of locations up and down the East Coast.

I truly do this for the love of competition, any competition, the comraderie in the lanes, sharing others installs and showing off your own. While I feel DbDrag to be the pinnacle, or at one time anyway, I absolutely hate the way Wayne is running it into the ground.

Look for some SouthWestSPL shows to pop up this spring and summer! Rest assured I will be up and down the West Coast promoting, judging, competing and just plain old haveing a good time in and out of the lanes.

I am really happy to see some discussion on the matter.

I honestly did not know how other competitors felt. I know I read on termpro and a lot of them do multiple orgs but, out here on the West Coast it has been db drag for a long time. I agree with Thorshammer about dbdrag being "the" format, if you want to get serious about competing thats the org to do it with. As far as Mr. Harris goes well I'll agree with Bill's statement and leave it at that. The MECA format however I feel is the best format as far as fairness in classes to the beginning competitors and some veterans as well.

Soapbox reading through each orgs rule book is frustrating as a lot is left up to interpretation. There are tons of grey areas and how one person understands and another can be completely different. There is nothing worst as to go through a whole season of being told "Its O.K." just to find out at Finals that it is illegal.

I am partial to MECA simply because it is the first org I have competed in, and the one that seems most prevalent in my area (central cal)...that said, i dont think meca is any "better" then the others...I actually like some of the others rules/classes better then meca. My car is built for meca for now, but I would like to get it to a point where I could compete at other events as well and be within rules/guidelines etc. One of my teamates seems to really like DBdrag, and that has piqued my interest as well. "DC98hoe" has done well in all events, and I not only respect his efforts, but it has opened my mind to other orgs/events. I plan to go to my first dbdrag show next month, even though I do not plan to compete, I still plan to go to promote and support our hobby...regardless of what org/class we compete in, we all share the same hobby

Yeah both Ray and Mario are some of our newer competitors as of last season and have really taken an open mind to competing. This is MECA's second season out here and we (my team and myself) hope to continue its growth as well as continued support for db drag and any other organization that may come along.

I enjoy both dbdrag and meca both for different reasons. I do well in at least 1 event in both orgs.I will continue to compete as long as i can because i enjoy caraudio, and meeting people with similiar likes.Lets continue this year with as many shows as possible. :)

Without a doubt the industry is changing. Not only can you see it at a local retail level but it was also very noticeable on the floor at CES. Combine the technology changes with a struggling economy and the marketing of a stereo comp, doesn't exactly fit a business model anymore. It is very difficult to ask a retailer to host a show when the cars who attend these shows are for the most part not customers. Add to it that customer cars often times have a hard time being competitive in most formats can make it tough to retain those customers as competitors.

I think in times like this, it is important for all of us to be ambassadors for the sport. We need to keep an eye out for new competitors and help them whenever we can. It is important for us to help them become competitive understand their classes and give them tips to get the most out of their systems.

I also think it is time for all of us to take the time to look for opportunity to host shows. We need to look further then the local retail shops. we need to get in touch with local car clubs, car shows and events. We need competitors to scope out up coming events and make contact with local promoters. If you can peak the interest of these promoters, then have them get in touch with your local Stereo Promoter. Or if your in cali, then with guys like Kimo, Aubrey, Dale or even myself so we can work on growing the sport.

Our best opportunity to grow the sport is with exposure. The fastest way to do that is to cross market ourselves with car show events. It is a target rich environment that may also have a love for music, but is unaware of our events.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

X2. Ray and i as new competitors have made it out to about every show in our area rain or shine. We do it for the love of car audio and competing. As for my build i wanted 10's to show people that you dont need these massive subs to put up good numbers. As for promoting i think i am the only one running kicker in our area also. This is my second season as a competitor and will continue to support the events i look forward to a great year in the lanes

amen im in it to win it i love the competition and meeting new people as well ive always had a passion for car audio and that is why i chose to go out of the box in the first place and go with addictive audio i never heard of when i started using it and i was tired of everything eles that was around i went with just 2 15s for the same reason so i could test tune andtry different things and at the same time see how far i could go with a new brand and it is nice that i have a place to compare it and compeat with it now sorry for the rant ill b compeating for a while not going anywhere
