lol, so your gonna be nice for your friend and have others find him a good setup and then say hey i told you id help ya out, when a simple message could get ya fixed up

honestly i havent been to auduiosavings in a while, i do know they are good people though, and i do not know the reliability of all the equipment, but they do often have bundles that will almost completely have you setup up for a decent price

to be honest, i think we should do a thread where we find the best setups within a certain range give or take 100 bucks, ranges would be like 500-100-1500 and so on, that way threads like this wouldnt need to be bothered with, not saying there is anything wrong with this thread, but would help a lot of people out with budgets we can have alternate equipment listed within same price range too

I agree 100% with you. Audiosavings is a great site, don't get me wrong. But some of their products I heard aren't the best. And I don't want to tell my friend to go buy some subs that aren't the best. That thread would be great. MAKE MAGIC HAPPEN Kynto! Start that thread! Haha. For me, I'm presonally going to get the SA's with an AQ2200D. And he doesn't have the money for that, so I don't know. He could get 2 Sundown with an Aq1200D for 500$.. but he wants a HU and speakers. :/

i may make that thread, lol

maybe look around on here and caco for some decent used but good quality equipment

you might need to do a used product search for this price. The guys are right, you won't get a 'good' system for that. I would focus on a couple things-

1- Head unit- mainly because you will be powering the door/deck speakers with it, so it'll be great if you can get one with some decent eq ability and an adjustable sub out.

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDHDR40/JVC-KD-HDR40.html?tp=5684 ($100)

(this unit has a 7 band eq, sub out and control, plus HD radio)

2- Door speakers- try and get the best front stage he can afford. rear speakers, like mainly have said, don't "matter" if it's just 'you' sitting up front all the time. So, you might be able to save some money. ( i didn't read what kind of vehicle this is, so rear speakers might not be an issue)

~150ish

3- If he can spare even $50 for door dampening...do it...

~50

4- this is a toss up between amp and sub- which quality is more important? I would suggest trying to find a guy selling a reasonably priced sub+amp combo-

as far as buying....this is decent price for decent product-

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/SSA-Dcon-10S4-%252b-US-Amps-MD%252d21-combo.html

(300 after s/h)

So...for 600.... you can get a good H/U (which you can find cheaper), a decent sub+amp combo from good brands, decent speakers, and some dampening.

However, that does not include amp wiring which Walmart and $30 can handle for such a small amp, any adapter kit you might need for you dash $15-20, and the wiring harness $15-20, plus the sub enclosure $50ish for a lump.

All in all....close to 700... if he can save 1000...or buy a part at a time...say spend 500 on front stage, h/u, related parts, and maybe an amp. He can later get the sub and enclosure plus wiring- thus making him happier in the long run.

Best advice, don't waste money on crap. You will undoubtedly have to replace it.

(please excuse my disorganized rambling)

I tried what you're friend is doing and about 4 months later, without new door speakers, I'm around $3K deep with just HU and amps/subs.

I would seriously try to convince your friend to save up and like Soundman said, buy certain components at a time. It will definitely be worth it.

subs

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17884_Crunch-GPV12D2.html 2x= 140

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23741_MTX-RFL600D.html amp=170

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22375_Pioneer-DEH-3200UB.html deck=100

total 410...not great, but found in less then 5 minutes and will do the trick

-The crunch subs are actually pretty solid for the price

-mtx amp does a little more then rated and at 2ohm where its needed

-pionner deck, pioneer usually has a good feature/cost ratio
