ptcary
Ok, would like to hear from the Fi Q15 people out there. What seems to work for enclosure size for ported? Fi website shows Ported box: 2.8-4 cuft @ 28-33Hz How do these perform in the smaller 2.8 vs the larger 4.0 cu ft box? My tune will be somewhere between 33-38hz. 4 of them with ~4400 watts. Alex K
I had one in 4.9 cubes and it got loud as hell off an aq1200. I agree with hunter and shoot or a big box as well. ptcary
Thanks guys! Looks like everyone has/has had/recommends the larger end of what Fi web says. I think I will be just shy of the 4 cu ft per sub mark when I account for the port and sub displacement, but I can work with that. This is for a planned rebuild of the PT this summer. TheBetterMethod
Mine is in 2.9 cubes, it's the biggest I can fit into my trunk. I've got it tuned at 29-30 with 36sqin. of port area on 1200W. I'd have to agree that a bigger box would do better, and don't be afraid to put the power to it. Mine laughs at 1200W in this small box. I wouldn't be at all afraid of putting it on 1500W daily, provided you have the cooling option as I do. I'll just add, the response of the Q is very flat and musical, I love my Q. TeamHT
I did 3.5 with 14sq inches tuned to 32hz. First and only box for the Q on an AQ1200 and loved it Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
smashedz28
I had mine in 3.3cu ft, tuned to 33hz. had it hooked up to a Older fosgate power 1000.1bd @ 2 ohm. Mine was also smaller than i wanted but it was in a truck. Sounded decent, if i were to do it again i would go bigger box. For now the Q 15 will sit on the shelf lol. ive moved on again. the 1000watt's they recommend for that thing is a joke if you ask me, ive thrown 1500 watts into a Q 12 and it wants more, and only threw 1000 at this 15. they can definitely take more if you ask me.
