I really think we have made the classes fair as we can

I feel that trunks place you at a distinct disadvantage, but I also understand the other end...is it really worth adding who knows how many more classes just to level the playing field ever so slightly? Because it is rare to see a legit trunk car at shows...there was only 2 in Fresno and only 2 yesterday...is it worth adding a bunch of classes when there may only be 2 or 3 cars total?

Batteries...seems weird to have them in a vehicles interior by rule when they can explode when something goes wrong like a alt regulator overloading. Disqualify for tappin cone seems weird imo as well. I don't really see a quarter of inch making a difference. Maybe at large events like saturday run multiple lanes rather then stop show. Pulling new people in imo just requires more shops get involved. We host at least 2 events a year at AI but there's 50 shops here. I have no idea why none will participate. You bet your butt another shop here holds an event we will be there in a split second trying to show what we do promoting our business. He'll even if you don't compete its a free chance to get exposure for your shop and get the name out to a market clearly interested in what you do.

I had a blast yesterday at the show. I was a Noob to the meca side of the sport. It sucked not knowing what my peak fq was and I believe that is one reason why my score sucked the way it did. It also sucked that I pulled in played the music and nothing happened. Guess i was the guinea pig for that yesterday. lol. I really like the format and would like to compete at more MECA events. Not sure how many shows are going to happen down here in So Cal though this year.

Granted I know I am new to the sport, but it would really be nice to see a trunk class for the ones of us that have trunk setups. I know that this is something that has been discussed in the MECA forum, but it definitely would be nice.

I forget what class they put you in but as a noob in an AS class its only musical tracks that can be played not test tones, as James said have multiple lanes that way if a new competitors wants the opportunity to do a sine sweep so they know there peak freq. it wont slow down the rest of the show.

A trunk class would also be nice. im in :good:

AWESOME response! Thanks for the input! Well, we as judges try our best to encourage new competitors and try to give them the "basic" rules up front. Now, we cannot "bend" the rules because someone is new. Yesterday, a new guy wanted to compete late in the day. His friends I would guess commented on him not having fusing and offered to help him install a fuse to get him in then lanes. That is what MECA is ALL about........getting the new guys involved and HELPING with the rules! We cannot grow the sport if we are not ALL involved in this, he'll be back with fusing and up to date on the rules IMO... :-) As far as the Term-Lab.......we always bring two and two laptops for issues like this..........blame it on the software or Term-Lab....we did our part and tried to eliviate the issue asap... =@ We arent software engineers...I sure wish I were in cases like that though.

anything else?

People have to ask. I handed out fuses and in one instance I even passed out a fuse block and lengths of zero gauge for the install.

Why not just 2 trunk class Amateur and Non Amateur, maybe something for 2012? trunk builds are at a big disadvantage IMO. but its not keeping me from competing. It may even bring more competitors into the scene, most people have SUV's and new competitors look at there 18's and think they have no chances of wining so they dont even give it a try.

Its hard to say, because Meca is still in early stages here in Cali. It would be nice if the teams would host events. Team Bassick, Team Flex Issues and Team BFD allows 3 oppurtunities to host events. Ray as a shop seems willing to host events as well. In general, I would just like more shows, but I understand that this is the difficult part. This is why we as teams need to step up and assist Meca by obtaining venues and sponsors for shows. The old adage is true, ask not what Meca can do for us, but what can we do for meca? If this is our hobby we need to be putting in as much time and effort as Meca (if not more) in supporting our hobby...Aubrey cant secure every venue/sponsor etc. There are relationships that the individual teams and competitors have with local shops and venues. We need to do a better job coordinating this. We are essentially the needed middle men between shops/sponsors and Meca in some cases....As far as my complaints, I think there needs to be some discernment on the judges part when it comes to noob competitors. It discourages potential competitors when they get placed in m5 just because they didnt know that they had to fuse at there amp. They end up doing a 130 because they have sub par equipment, no clue what cabin peak is and no idea what a tone is..then some guy in mod5 beats them by 20db. That doesnt go a long way to encourage future attendence. I know Meca tries to ensure a level playing field, but you guys know that every once in a while there is a guy with a crap system that has no clue whats going on. That guy doesnt need to be in mod5 or s5...

As far as yesterday, that hickup with the TL was pretty damn annoying, but its technology, and its not something that judges have control over. Thats just an irritant that I guess we will have to accept from time to time

1st and foremost, GREAT feedback.

Alpine and I have been competing for YEARS now. Click on my dB Drag button below for my stats. www.teambassick.com for our teams history, members, guidelines, and our mission statement. As much as we love to be in the lanes we love this hobby to much not to be pro-active thats why we left San Jose @ 5:30 a.m. Saturday and got home at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

NOW....in response to:

I understand where this is coming from but, to jeopardize the integrity of MECA and make an "exception" from the rules is only asking for trouble in the long run. From personal experience, I don't know how many times we have pulled all nighters to prepare for a show just to show up and get our asses handed to us. This isn't T-Ball where if you win or lose you still get a trophy, it is a COMPETITION. Futhermore, there is nothing worst to compete all season to show up at finals to find that you may possibly be disqualified because of the "exception to the rules". We are more than willing to help explain to a competitor about their class and how to get them into a competitive class for their equipment. This really is coming from the heart and experience as a fellow competitor and not as a judge.

As for Term-Lab...... OMFG!!!! You would think after all these years and the amount the software and hardware cost that it should be flawless but, it seems to be getting worst with every update.

it was fun at our show march 5th thanks to Aubrey, team bassick and my team flex issues even though I got my ass handed to me in sq It was my first time I scored a 50 out of a 100 I still enjoyed myself and plan to try and better that score and I got some positive feed back from Aubrey and my judge Bill but I'm also goin to try park and pound I like the idea of a clinic for first time competitors to go over there system to make sure they can get into a class that they would be competitive in cause a lot of these guys build there systems for the street not competing that's the way mine is currently so I got to try and make some small changes so I can compete more also we need to try and talk to the shops locally around us to host shows then we could have more

get new SPL judges so I can hang out with my team mates. they are too busy and I dont have anyone to hang out with... dick.

im only worried about the SQ side. I liked that the same judge did my car each time. then I have a fairly accurate way to see if im doing better or not. now there will be a new one so itll throw me off, im guessing. but its not like you can do anything about that. I just hope you find someone permanent. if you didn't already lol.

all the judges are all nice. you always ask what you can do better, and you do your best. cant ask for much more. the more new guys you get into it, the more it'll grow.

Not 100% sure if your joking or not with part of your comments. I will answer assuming what I read into it. I try my best to change judges up as much as I can on the SQW side so you can get several bits of feedback. unforunatley SQ.....IS as in IS ssubjective, even though the rules and tracks used are set in stone. The KEY to being really good in SQ is #1 being ver good, #2 is knowing the judge and what they as a individual is looking for. You CANNOT judge SQ by a meter or machine so knowing your judge IS important. I can explain thet in a pm if you like...(generlized of course)

mostly joking. figured you knew me well enough to know that. :pardon:

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

i understand alot of that...perhaps we shouldnt place it on Meca to straighten out the new guys, but perhaps us as competitors need to make a more involved effort to help the new guys....

I also agree with what Ray said. As much as that guy drives, it would be nice to get events up in his backyard. I know there is also a bay area faction of guys as well that Im sure would love a show or 2 in that area
