Steve the IP banning thing shouldn't be happening at all. If you have to contact your host about it they need to fix their filter as it should be looking for hundreds of hits not a few. I'm not trying to talk bad about them or anything, but I ran webservers for 10 years (at The Planet or whatever it's now and Rackshack before that) and never ever had legitimate users get ip banned unless they tried to run a script against the box.
