412 CVX Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 i recently bought 4 12 inch CVX's (as my name implies) and currently have two of them in my car right now. i have a zx2500.1 powering them at 4 ohms, my electrical system is lacking, i always turn my HU up too loud so i've likely got a clipped signal, i have them in a box that was designed for 12" JL w0v2's, and i need a shitload more dynamat, but these woofers pound like no other and stay cool no matter what i do to them. sound quality is decent at low volumes and they do hit the lows pretty well from what i've heard. when i turn it up they're loud as hell and everything in my car shakes. it starts to lose some SQ when i turn it up but that's probably because i don't have enough sound dampener and the box they're in just sucks. kicker isn't really a bad brand, but you really can't expect much from mainstream brands like that. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. If anyone wants proof of what Kicker sounds like, I'm not bashful get ahold of me and I would be more than happy to let you hear what Kicker is made of. And YES I'm running L7's and they do have sound quality, You just need to use them in the right box for sound quality. I have heard them sloppy as fuck and I have heard as tight and acuratte (can't spell) as any sub needs to be. All it is is the name and they been out for so long just like jl, Rockford, I use to have 2 cvr 15s and they pounded like hell. dereileak Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 I love kicker, did my whole vehicle in them, I work at bestbuy, so we have accommodations on there stuff, basically I can get there stuff cheaper then cheap, about 50% of the cheapest place online, and it ships right from them. I have two sets of there QS components, boy do they sound beautiful, and there amps don't get hot when I use them. Top Quality stuff, lots of options, of course there is always other good brands out there, I happen to really like kicker a lot, you can see my build log for all my stuff I got from them. I would be happy to run other stuff, someday I want to get some 18's in some other brand, but for sure they are good. As for price, all depends where you buy your stuff. If you get it from audio savings you save a lot, if you get it from best buy then you pay top price which stops you from buying other things. The only thing from best buy for deals I have seen, is a buy one get one free. rubbernutz1 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 thier old skool stuff was the shit sounded gr8. the new stuff isnt what it use to be but its still not complete trash. yeah thier subs are good for entry level set ups (except the solo X's) if you just wanna bang a little. personally all of my highs and mids are kicker and it dont sound that bad. granted they'r mostly old skoolers but i got a few newer ones in there to. long as you dont try to over power them they stand up pretty good mine have so far. i also agree with some of the other guys id run thier big amps any time to
