Any information is appreciated! Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.
uhoh_45 Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 great amp there hungry little buggers but put out the power with higher voltage they like higher rca voltage and lower gain ummm i've had mine run super lowe imp wise and it took it fine (16 volt setup though and huge battery bank) they dont like to have anything placed on them and are kinda weak if they vibrate so make sure its mounted solid R.I.P! Supercharged DCs Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 I've read that they are a bit power hungry, but I'm looking to run it at 1ohm and after box rise and voltage drop want to see around 2000wrms, though it's rated at 3000wrms, so how do you think a D3400 under the hood, stock 117A alt and Big 3 do? Should it give me around what I'm looking for? And I didn't know about the mounting issue, I'm buying from Dwright and he is including mounting feet so will probably figure out something with that. My whole back seat is taken up by my box, and ideas where to get a solid mount? Truck is a 2000 Dodge Dakota Bassless once again. TeamHT Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Honestly, if this is a daily setup stop referring to impedance rise. This should not be used to decide what nominal ohm load should use or what power RMS you should look at. There are many variables to figuring out impedance rise not limited to your enclosure. You will not know how your enclosure is going to affect the field until you test, so speculating on what rise you're going to see to guess what power you'll be putting out is pointless. It's true the amp will not always see rated power at 1 ohm but its also true you will be seeing that power. Which could also mean pushing a driver to its mechanical limits. You know what you should do...adjust the gains or wire to a lower impedance. I recommend NOT counting on rise to save yourself. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
corona_jeff Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I can tell you one thing that I saw when scoping one. The wave will be either perfect or straight square. There is no soft clip area. Ive scoped several different amps and this one requires alot of attention when setting the gains. Other then that they make power but judging by the price range these sell for new, 500-600, I say theres way better for the money
