They look like a stereotypical UFO you could say. The older style weren't as wide, and had double-or-triple stacked motors. Do you place the voice coil in the gap then attach the cone to the coil, or do you do it outside of the woofer? Do you place the voice coil in the gap then attach the cone to the coil, or do you do it outside of the woofer? We do it with the coil and spider assembly glued down to the frame and shimmed out. Of course when making a drop-in kit we don't glue the spider pack down while attaching the cone -- but it is in the motor shimmed out while gluing the cone on. It makes sure the cone is aligned correctly.
