the guy at my local stereo shop said that at their training sessions they were told only to double the size of your existing stock 3 and that the 0 guage Big 3 could be bad and fry something in your fuse box. He told me to do my Big 3 in 4 guage. Just got my Knu KCA 1/0 in today soo...

Is there any truth to this?

the voltage output of the alt and batt is the same how could this be? Save their ass on liability maybe.

Peep my tunes...

nope, not at all, that guy must be retarded, all the thicker wire does is reduce resistance, and makes it easier for the power to flow through, especially during high loads where the factory wires would rise in resistance due to more current going through them then designed, some cars do have sensors, like a few Toyota that you have to wire it differently though. I will say though he has some truth but not in his sense of thinking. Factory wiring can handle the loads that they alternator was designed for, so if you are doing more then double the size of wire then the factory, it means you are gonna need a new alt someday, ha ha, but all depends on how big your system is

I would like for you to ask him how it would fry something,"anything" in the fuse by making the wire larger for the Big 3. And then post his response here.
