samslowp1s Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 windows up firing forward sucks imo, I like back much much more Why's that? Essentially, isn't that what a walled of car is? A box firing forward into the cabin, totally sealed off from the rear? because you are trying to pressurize a huge ass area with generally 2 12s or 2 15s, which is pretty hard to do, now if there was a loading wall where the rear seats were, it wouldnt be an issue firing forward sounds better, because of less rattle, but you need something to load off of, i tested this today, and yes, while it sounded cleaner, less rattle, it wasnt as loud as firing off the driver side and sub facing the drivers side... What do you mean by a loading wall? Kind of a NOOB when it comes to firing forward into the cabin and aren't you pressurizing even more area when you fire them toward the rear? The trunk and the cabin? Just trying to find the answers I need before I build my next box. Thanks for the input. Quote

Thanks for the input. its just basically a wood wall that the soundwaves will bounce off of, basically the same thing if you were firing into the trunk, it bounces off the back... if you have a box already, just test different positions in your trunk, facing rear, facing to the passenger side, and the driver side, and all that, before you seal it off, you might be comfortable with it facing a different way Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall....... Robert8252 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Not going to argue with anyone here. Here's just my opinion from my 3 different box sealed forward. Only had one with this sub firing rear so not going to compare. Just state "facts" from results. Firing forward works great IMO. One 12 will do the job BUT, the box had to be perfect... On my 4th box now since October for this sub. Each has been better and better. Hopefully I'm very close to what I want now. But for best results you need atleast some good quality subs or sub. Decent Xmax and power handling. And a lot of port. A LOT of port.... And sealed forward does not hurt the lows... Team dc Derrick heard it and ih8punkrok in this threw heard my last box. The lows were MORE THEN THERE to say the least. Lol Quote 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
Robert8252 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Oh yeah. Not a fact or proven. But I believe a leather interior will help with lowing your peak a little I THINK that is. Quote 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
94retta(219) Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I cant agree with any of the "lower" or sounding better when its faceing the trunck. My car wont do dick faceing back/side but seal it off and it gets stupid. Only exception imo is if your doing like a single 8 build and build the whole trunk up out of wood then face back. Which iv allways wanted to do. Quote BUILD LOG
Mr. Darkjustice Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 mines far louder sealed forward than it was backwards. we were also able to get alot more out of it space wise. and the window up part is from cancellation, or at least thats what ive been told. but its kinda subjective. if you live in a place where its damn near 60+ year round i doubt youll have your window up enough to car, if you live in a place that has all 4 seasons and it shows then itll matter, but most basshead will still have their window down even during the winter lol Quote Fusion With A Stetsom 4k2d on 2 DC XL 15s tuned to 31hz and Subs and ports forward The Revolution Was Not Televised But There Is This Thread(clicky) Dr Merkenstein is my 360 gamertag and my profession. fecupe2001 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I honestly think it also depends on the car, 2 examples: We built a nissan sentra , tried everything back and it was loud, tried everything forward and was WAY louder even without been sealed off, on the other hand, hyundai accent with everything forwards sounded ok, sealed that thing off the trunk and got better but not that loud, turned the box and everything back was WAY louder!!!!
