samslowp1s
I don't know if this is the right section but, is their a musical difference in firing to the rear in trunk vs. sealed firing to the cabin. I have a 91 accord and the back seat folds down completely. I know it is a little more work to seal it off but i just don't like having my subs exposed as this is my DD. Any input would be of great assistance. I am getting a new bigger Rockford amp in a couple days and Want to build a better box for my P1's. Until I get my DC 12's. LOL Also what would be the best way to seal? Foam? Deadner? Or what? Edited May 3, 2011 by samslowp1s
hdorre
Yes, there will be a difference in frequency response in almost every application. Azagtoth502
Firing into the cabin will be louder as long as it's completely sealed off. samslowp1s
Yes, there will be a difference in frequency response in almost every application. My next question would be, Is that a good difference or a bad difference? I have heard the answer go both ways and am interested in the results. I will be fully sealing this thing off from the trunk. Or as close as I can possibly get without making the box a permanent piece of the car. LOL

chapo123
from about 3 people that went from back to foward said they lows werent as good.. idk maybe because of nothing to load off of? but idk it was louder though just make sure to seal it off completly. and dont use foam if you ever plan to sell the car. it kills the value since taht shits hard as hell to get off.. youd be better off making good trim panels. if you dont care about the car sure foam thatbish! samslowp1s
windows up firing forward sucks imo, I like back much much more Why's that? Essentially, isn't that what a walled of car is? A box firing forward into the cabin, totally sealed off from the rear?
IH8PunkRok
personally i prefer the sound of subs back in a trunk car. it just sounds better and like korey said windows up sucks. any kind of turbulence you will hear and any mechanical noise will be heard as well. but it is louder when sealed off Quote -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build

A box firing forward into the cabin, totally sealed off from the rear? because you are trying to pressurize a huge ass area with generally 2 12s or 2 15s, which is pretty hard to do, now if there was a loading wall where the rear seats were, it wouldnt be an issue firing forward sounds better, because of less rattle, but you need something to load off of, i tested this today, and yes, while it sounded cleaner, less rattle, it wasnt as loud as firing off the driver side and sub facing the drivers side...
