focused313 Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Headunit: Pioneer AVH-p4000DVD One of my amps was acting stupid, so I started unplugging RCA's to see which channel was working while the HU was still on. Shortly after, I turned the car off, turned it back on the the HU was dead. First I checked the fuse on the back of the stereo...good. Checked the radio fuse in the fuse box of the car...good. Took a DMM and checked for voltage at the wire harness that plugs into the HU...12.4v. Now...I don't know anything else that could be wrong, other than a blow head unit. Given that this is completely my fault, as I know I've read somewhere that you should not disconnect and connect wires while the HU has power, do I have any options? RickyFriery97 Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 check and make sure the harness is all the way in like stated above ^^ Get a DMM and check the power wire, ignition wire, and the ground one of those may be bad and it could also be bad behind the factory harness ive had this happen on my burban and a friend of mines car and had to re run new wires 2014 Chevy Silverado Crewcab 1994 Chevy Full Size blazer

All I did was disconnect them in the back next to the amp, but no, the harness didn't come loose. I haven't checked the ignition wire though. Bakerman Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Wow...so u never unhooked anything from thee radio...just the rca's at the amp? I'm stumped...pull your radio nd check the voltage and grounds @ the radio...if one isn't working, follow it till you find out where it shorted at.

I still don't have it working correctly yet, BUT, I ran the accessory wire from the harness to my switch to turn the amp on, and the head unit powered up. Now I know it's a wiring issue somewhere, I just have to find it. I'm just happy it's coming on. Thanks again to everyone. Learning Everyday. Glad you figured something out because if you didn't I don't think anyone could have helped you figure out was wrong.
