Revised - Bass Burp Track soft clip soundwave

Recommended Posts

Just wow. Ban needed...this is like the what, fourth totally fail post from this guy. Hey guys, im a rocket scientist. Ima go publish a how to produce porn novel because both fields are so close to eachother!

I went to school for my business degree and am now one of the best actors out there, glad the fields are so close together or my business degree would be useless.

Ima put nitrous on my motorcycle, anyone wanna help? I havent done anything near related to it before, but its ok, I stayed at a holiday inn express last night. :werd_msword:

Seriously dude, listen to the people like Decaf who KNOW this shit. Hes done this kind of stuff to thousands of songs for a VERY long time...just because you think you know it, doesnt mean you do. Get past your bull headed 'I know it all notions' and just listen to the people trying to help you. Im pretty sure the people whove been doing this shit for 15+ years would already be using massively clipped signals if thats what was needed. Clearly since noones doing it, it isnt helping. Most of the 'extra power' your pushing from your system is burnt off as heat anyways, most of the time hurting your score rather than helping it. God forbid you start blowing equipment.

not trying to be a debbie downer, i seriously would be concerned if people play this, let me make some screen shots so you can see what "DC" is and looks like and why speakers cannot play it

so a clipped sine wave is DC?

God damn its hot today. My balls are stuck to my leg.

well no not entirely... its almost constant current, not dc by definition since it crosses the x axis

duty cycle approaches 100% which means speaker is seeing + or - voltage almost the entire time

speaker has to try to play multiple frequencies at once since thd goes flying out the door with large amounts of clipping (plays harmonics of the fundamental frequency)

power increases enormously with clipping as does the needed heat dissipation

not directing this to anyone in particular, but it doesn't help going in-depth about waveforms when u can simply say clipping creates the heat that ruins the glue which lets the vc come loose... that is if it doesn't reach xmech first

I will speak for the super high SPL serious competitor here.

Recordings of various levels have been tested over and over since the 90s. This is not a new notion.

To the professional competitor, great pains are taken to setup a system with the proper source, wire, processors and amplifiers and then great time and care is taken to test and set all of the levels and adjustments to achieve maximum SPL.

It has been found that tones recorded at 0 dB will yield the best results. A competitor tracks the max unclipped volume of the source unit and adjusts amps accordingly. If their testing shows a soft clip can improve their score, they simply go up a volume click or 2. Going up too much has been proven to drop SPL scores and possibly cause damage.

If they do not have enough signal, then something is not adjusted correctly and they simply retest and retune to find that sweet spot yet again.

The results I have been privy to of tests with over 0 dB recordings had yielded unsatisfactory results and thusly those recordings were not used in competition.

I revised my first post based on everyone's feedback and changed the samples that I had available.

Haven't seen you since that Middle Eastern track you produced.

Not a good way to get back into the groove of things, IMO.

I'm still around, and I've done plenty more songs since that one. Feel free to listen to these 0db non-clipped tracks

that I've created:

- Bass Song 1 - Long Notes that hit from 37hz and peaks at 28hz

- Bass Song 2 - Long Notes that hit from 48hz (peak) down to 25hz

the two songs are much cleaner and playable bro

convert to mp3 for people who download it tho, no one wants to have to convert aiff to mp3 if they dont have to

fade out the very last wavelength of the notes so u dont get that pop thats at the end of the track. now that is a loud song that people can play without worries unless they cant play low safely

also... the material being played should always be clean or as close to clean as possible. +2db is still unacceptable as ed noted for a burp

the competitor clips the amp by going a few clicks past max volume, they do not use clipped tracks to start. you didnt listen to what hhr ed said

when you use a +2db "soft clip" tone that does not translate to equivalent soft clip on every amp. soft clip can be just +.5db or less and that is actually alot of clipping compared to most competitors who run 0db tones

what quake said about the clipped tones is correct, it will be louder and/or sound louder at low volume. But the maximum score will drop. And all the other negative things that will happen said in this thread. And also this: because of the big amount of clipping the spiders could/will get damaged too.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
