His thumb wouldn't have turned black from the shock, it was most likely due to the wire/insulation burning when he hooked it up and it arced. I thought of doing the same thing a while back to some old speakers but as you can see above their are already people interested in buying it. Just hold onto it a little longer and there may be someone who wants something small for their wife or kid. Just my thought.
