ChevyBoy95
Its summer time... Who's amp isn't warm... Yesterday the amp was fine at "full volume" and today it's not even though you changed nothing? Maybe you blew a mid or tweet... Or just have them hooked up wrong. How exactly do you have your drivers wired? Edit: reread first post... You probably are clipping bad seeing as the gain is the same but your pre amp voltage is higher... It's probably because of your HU. lol, mine are about 100 or so. There hot to the touch getting in the truck. CJ18
What is the impendace at the amp? I had a 4 channel that would protect if the nominal Ohm load was below 2.

SS tC
As far as the fear of high HU voltage goes....I wouldn't worry about it unless you are runnning it full out all the time. Such as an example of 34/35 35/35 for an Alpine on volume. The headunits I have tested only produce the rated voltage at the last one or two clicks. So I would guess that the un boosted output of your 5v out hd would only be over four volts at the last 8 or 10 clicks. ( depending on what the max number is....60 on the pioneers I'm referring to.) As others have said...this points to other reasons for your problems. Just take your time and test everything piece by piece and you'll find it. supremeaudio13
Well I just tested out the amp again... checked my speaker wire runs and made sure everything was correct. Hooked up individual speakers one by one (4 selenium mids and 2 selenium super tweeters) and they all worked perfectly. I hooked everything up onto the amp and turned it up to 18 of 62 and it went into protect mode. Im going to say IT IS the 5v preouts on the Pioneer deck, thoughts? supremeaudio13
Once I unplug the speakers I turn the radio to 60 out of 62 and it wont put the amp into protect. The mids are 8 ohm and the super tweeters are 8 ohm. I have the mids wired together to 3.2-3.4 on ch. 3 and ch. 4 ... than each super tweeter has its own channel and sits at about 6.
