Any potential problems for this enclosure?

Recommended Posts

Still need bracing.

I will add that after the whole port problem...

Depending upon how you brace it, you may still have a port problem...

How's that?

If you end up using something that takes up a respectable amount of room (like 2x4s) you lose airspace, and raise your tuning. Which will require more port length to bring it back down.

If you're bracing using dowels, the effect won't be as drastic, but again, depending upon how you brace it, there may be other issues. Like there not being enough space to run your dowels (which is actually what I'm concerned with).

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.

The height of your box is 18 inches...and you have three 6 inch aeros. That dog won't hunt.

2 12's is more motor force and only a little less cone area...i'd do that. or just don't do a wedge box...they complicate everything.

Hmm, let's rework this then. I agree, shouldn't be building a wedge box for my first box.

i cant imagine a wedge enclosure for a FI btl. Im pretty sure the motor will be hitting the bottom of the box...

do sub up port back.

Yeah, that would work.

I'm trying to balance performance and aesthetics together, but my car isn't working with me, so I guess sub up is the only option for a square box.

Doing a 18 in a wedge and doing it right in a trunck is alot of work. Trust me. Go with a 15

I know what you mean, but the sheer size of an 18 is total shock and awe, you know?

(Might have to shave it to 17, give the driver some room to flex.)

1.2" Dowels for bracing. You need to realize that bracing will take up space in the box therefore raising your tuning. I'd run a double baffle setup, with some 1.2" dowels from top to bottom and front to back. Also, any reason you are set on an aero port? 2 7" aeros wouldn't personally be my setup of choice.
