sayhuh?
I thought Birch splintered easy if you weren't a little careful or had the wrong blade or you need to have a new blade...It was something along those lines lol. How is it using a rotor to round the edges? Quote Blown
Torres
it does splinter and can be a bitch, so i prefer MDF in that aspect. also MDF has smoother rounded edges. for my next build tho, i'll probably use birch for the box, and MDF for any visual front piece due to the smoothness of it. unless i want the front stained (stained looks are so damn sexy)

Torres
i've done that to the last couple boxes i've made. made the box black and the port had a nice redish stain. omg definitely going with that nice 2 tone black/stain look again for my next build, but more stain i did forget to mention that someone said birch can be just fine as far as rounded edges/splinters go. i go to home depot, so mine might just be the cheap stuff

ChrisLun
I like birch, but I prefer MDF cause it shapes better in custom application. The weight is a problem in small applications, but due to all the sizes MDF comes in, we can sometimes make up for the weight.
