TheGreatJuice
Im looking for a setup to give SQ but at the same time give a lot SPL. I've came down between 2 12" DC XL's ported at 33Hz or 2 Kicker solo x 10"/12" sealed. Which would be the better choice?
6berry
both of those are pretty much 100% spl subs. i would go with the DC's though Quote 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth
deeje
Neither of those subs are sq. At all. I'd go dc level 4 if anything. YeahitgoesBoom
Why would you go with the Kickers in a sealed enclosure? Are you limited on space? In my opinion the Kickers don't sound good, they do get loud as hell though. I've heard the XL's and they sound much better, probably aren't quite as loud as the Kickers but if you're going ported DC's vs. sealed Kickers I'd go XL's all day long. deeje
Xls not as loud as an l7? What kinda power did you hear the xl on 500 watts? YeahitgoesBoom
He's talking Solo X's vs. XL's.
DannyV18
Get the XL's based on the fact that the solo x is being discontinued.
deeje
In that case why would you even think of putting that sub sealed? Either way id go dc. photochrisb931
I would have to agree with what a lot of these guys are saying. Having run kickers in the past they get loud as hell but not so much for sq. I am not so familiar with DC but I do know they are a well respected company with great customer service. If you are looking for sql do some research and see what people are running in their setups and you may change your mind for your setup all together. Off the top of my head I would look into the FI Q, AA SMD, Digital Designs do not remember which one off hand, (I know this one will get some bad press) JL W7 or 6, something like the Treo TE and probably a few others since this is just a quick throw it out there. I have only heard one pair of DC's and they were level 4 15s not sure how much power they were on I believe it was two kicker amps actually they sounded really good better than most kickers I have heard but the set up was for ground pounding not sq.
